So this happened...

Houzz reached out to us for an article on a beautiful project for a great family that we completed last year.

I hadn't even seen the professional photos until now and can't believe how well they capture how great the place looks in person.

Not usually one to toot our own horn, as I'm usually the most critical one here, but our office knocked this one so far out of the park. Then our crew worked to the best of their abilities to create this dream space. Take a look if you care to, copy the link or go to our bio...

We designed a traditionally styled barn structure to serve as residence and meeting space for a prestigious conservation group, wanting a foothold in New Paltz. This kitchenette sits in the corner of their gathering space. We designed it in cherry, with a traditional drying rack and restoration glass. The counter top and back splash are Pieatra Cardosa, a honed marble that is extremely striking against the warmth of the clear finished cherry. We are indebted to Gavin Anderson for the fine ex*****on and for solving some of the difficult details with us.

Completed kitchenette in our 99.99999% complete project. Minor punch list items left.
Thanks to our awesome team of in house carpenter's, Gavin for this kitchen!!. Louie Yess, for his awe inspiring work ethic and time here (the rest are not on IG), our skilled and blessedly patient trade partners, our suppliers, and to the client, who has helped guide this project to it's fruition. (And No, they're not following us on IG! )
Thanks to my wife, and our own personal architect, Kathryn Whitman .architecture for her and her staff's limitless patience - I'm still testing it though - I just gotta be me :-) and her utmost care in everything she does.

This is the Stanford White-designed Dining Room, at the Staatsburgh State Historic site, where the Gary Lawrence and T.R. Hamilton put together a wonderful day of lectures and discussion. I was honored to sit on the panel.

We are setting up for The Country House Conference and look forward to welcoming all of the presenters and attendees.

For this beloved weekend retreat, we designed a master bedroom and bathroom addition, giving the owners first floor sleeping quarters for their retirement years. We established a geometry to complement the house that had already been successively added to and kept materials in-kind to unite the new and existing structures.

This traditionally-styled,contemporary house bordering the Red Hook Golf Club, was a blank canvas for our interpretation. We selected a soothing palette in the main living space to contrast the bright furniture and artwork purchased for the home, We energized the space with unexpected features like a metal stair railing, a rolling ladder in the kitchen and a new service bar. We reconfigured the Master Bath to make it open and light and selected a dramatic tile to enliven it. Quatrefoil Inc. was the contractor for this high-speed, whole-house renovation.

The kitchen was relocated from cramped and dark interior space to this sunlit addition. When the couple entertains, they can now socialize with guests more easily. Expanded bathrooms and a new dressing room fill the space where the kitchen was before. A new entry and coat closets were also added.
