In Loving Memory of Captain Jeff Moore
1961 – 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the non-duty related passing of Captain Jeff Moore (DSN 916).

Captain Moore proudly served the Wellsville Fire Protection District (MO) since 1992, dedicating more than three decades of service to protecting our community. His commitment, leadership, and friendship left a lasting impact on the members of our department and the countless lives he touched throughout his career. Captain Moore was also a military veteran.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Services are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville, MO.

***Today (Tuesday), August 4, 2026, at or around 2:30 p.m., we will be escorting Captain Moore from Montgomery through Wellsville. We should be in Wellsville by around 2:40 p.m. We invite our community to join us in paying tribute to Captain Moore by safely lining the procession route (from Schlanker Funeral home to north on Highway 19) beginning around 2:30 p.m. A simple wave, salute, or moment of silence is a meaningful way to honor a firefighter who dedicated so much to others.***

Rest easy, Captain. Your watch is over. We have it from here.

Tonight we made a very special trip up the hill to send off one of our own, Grace! She is headed to National Gard boot camp this week. We want to thank her for all the time she has spent on our department and for her commitment to serving our country! We wish you the best of luck, all the safety, and lots of love while you’re away! We are so proud of you Grace!

We are one week away from our street dance! With that being said, Jason Gleason will be putting on a few horse shoe tournaments that day. The first one will start at 1 pm, and they will start one in the evening as well. Once again we want to thank every one in the community that help put this on and offer to put on many different events that evening.

Once again this year a group of individuals from our community are putting on a ride to start the day off and come end the evening at our street dance. If you have any questions reach out to one of the guys listed on flyer they will help you with any questions!

Southwesterly winds and low humidity will lead to Elevated Fire Danger along/south of I-70 and along/west of the Mississippi River this afternoon. With potentially erratic fire behavior, it is best to leave burning to the professionals today.
