Amy is a proud Hodag alumna and a lifelong resident of Rhinelander! We are so excited to have her bringing her deep community roots, empathy, and heart to our students and families at Crescent. 🌲✨

Get to know Amy:

✨Family & Pups: Amy and her husband have two teenage sons, along with two adorable dogs named Steve and Charli! 🐶🐶

✨Perspective & Heart: Amy is adopted, and she shares that her personal experiences with adoption really help her relate to and connect with students from all different backgrounds. ❤️

✨Outdoor Enthusiast: An active outdoorswoman, she loves mountain biking, alpine skiing, boating, watching baseball, and taking in the beauty of nature. 🚵‍♀️⛷️⚾️

✨Weekend Vibes: She loves spending weekends up in the U.P.! In the summer, you'll catch her mountain biking in Copper Harbor, and in the winter, she gives back to our local youth by volunteering as a coach for the Rhinelander Northland Pines Alpine Ski Team! 🏔️❄️

Please join us in giving a warm Hodag welcome to Heather Klimek, our new Special Education Teacher at Crescent Elementary! 🟢⚪️

Heather brings a huge heart for helping others, a dedicated spirit of community service, and valuable prior education experience to our Crescent family! ✨

Get to know Heather:

✨Family & Farm Life: Heather has been married for 23 years and is a proud mom of five! She and her family live on a beef farm just south of Gleason, where they also raise pigs, horses, goats, sheep, cats, dogs, and rabbits! 🚜🐴🐄🐐

✨Community First: Giving back is deeply important to Heather. She serves as a Pine River First Responder and is an active member of the Gleason Area Lions Club! 🚑🦁❤️

✨Weekend Vibes: Her favorite way to spend a weekend is being at the lake with her family, caring for her animals, and going horseback riding. 🐴🧺☀️

✨Excited to Join: Heather is so happy to be joining the SDR team and can't wait to support her new students and school community at Crescent!

Please join us in giving a warm Hodag welcome to Debby Schultz, our new Special Education Teacher at Crescent Elementary! 🎉

Debby grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and has lived in nearby Harshaw for the last 11 years with her husband, Nate, and their cat, Jasper. After years of commuting down to the Wausau School District, where she spent 9 years as a special education teacher at Rib Mountain Elementary, we are so excited that she is trading in that long drive to teach right here close to home! 🚘➡️🏠

Get to know Debby:

✨Driven by Curiosity & Coffee: Debby loves learning new things, discovering fresh perspectives, and finding creative solutions both in and out of the classroom! ☕️💡

✨Passions & Hobbies: An avid outdoor and nature lover, she enjoys traveling, mountain hiking, kayaking, birding, wildlife photography, and exploring new restaurants and flavors. 📸🚣‍♀️🐦

✨Weekend Vibes: On the weekends, you can find her trying out a new restaurant or hiking trail, taking a quick overnight getaway, or simply relaxing in her backyard listening to the birds. 🌲🍴

✨Looking Ahead: Debby is thrilled to be joining a district so close to home and can't wait to connect with new students, families, and colleagues as part of the SDR community!

🚧 Technical Education Facility Update! 🛠️

We’re less than two weeks away from completion of the new Technical Education facility at Rhinelander High School, and the progress is incredible!

These photos showcase our new:
🚗 Auto Lab — featuring 4 dedicated lifts and a Hunter alignment rack
🔥 Welding & Metals Lab
💡 Dream It. Design It. Fab Lab
🪵 Woods Lab
🤝 Lee Swank Wall of Honor & Collaboration Space: a place to recognize donors who have supported Technical Education and to connect employers with our students and staff.

This project represents a tremendous investment in our students, their future careers, and the workforce needs of our community. We’re excited to see these spaces come to life!

🧪 Welcome to the JWMS Team! 🧪

Please join us in giving a warm Hodag welcome to Michael Fossen, our new Science Teacher at James Williams Middle School!

Born and raised right down the road in Minocqua, Michael has called the Rhinelander area home for the past three years, and we are so excited to have his rich experience and love for the outdoors in our science classrooms! 🌲✨

Get to know Michael:

✨Unique Background: Michael holds an Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota! He brings awesome real-world scientific and practical experience to JWMS, having worked as a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service and spent two years in construction building post-frame structures. 🏗️🌲

✨Family Life: He and his family are kept busy with their two-year-old daughter, Rosie, along with a full house of four cats and a dog! 🐾👶

✨Weekend Vibes: An avid outdoor enthusiast who loves building things and being in nature, his favorite way to spend a weekend is camping at the lake with his family. 🏕️🪵

Michael shared that he is so appreciative to be a part of the Rhinelander community and is excited to jump into the great things happening in our district.

It’s a Great Time to Be a Hodag! 💚🖤

What an incredible way to kick off the 2026–27 school year in the School District of Rhinelander! 🎉

Our opening morning brought all of our staff together for breakfast, our annual staff picture, and a morning filled with energy, excitement, and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. 🫶

Time was spent talking about our district priorities and, most importantly, the power of Mattering. It is about helping ourselves, our students, our colleagues, and parents and community members know that they are seen, valued, heard, and that they matter. ❤️

There also was the opportunity to welcome and introduce all of our amazing new Hodag staff members. 🙌We are so excited to have them join our Hodag family!💚🌟

The morning continued with an incredible program, “It’s a Great Time to Be a Hodag!” They heard from current Hodag students of all ages, staff members, and alumni about why there has never been a better time to be part of the Hodag community. The energy, pride, and enthusiasm in the room were absolutely contagious!🤩

And then… the Hodag Staff Band returned! 🎸🥁🎤 Three songs had our entire staff on their feet, dancing and celebrating together. They closed with our very own rendition of “Don’t Fear the School Year,” adapted from Don’t Fear the Reaper, complete with a surprise guest appearance by an unknown character sporting a white beard, a Hodag sweater, and Buc-ee’s shorts! 😂

It was the perfect way to remind us that while we have important work ahead, we also have an incredible team, an amazing community, and plenty of reasons to be excited about the year ahead.

Let’s make it a GREAT year in the Land of the Hodag! 💚🖤

Poul just made the move to Wisconsin all the way from Tennessee, and we are so excited to have his heart and dedication in our district! 🌲✨

✨A Mission to Help: From a young age, Poul's lifelong goal has been to help others, and he truly views his career in education as his calling to do just that. ❤️📚

✨Bracing for the Northwoods: Coming from TN, Poul shared that he is both excited and nervous to see what a "real winter" looks like! (Be sure to drop your best winter-prep tips for him in the comments! ❄️🧥)

✨Weekend Vibes: When he isn't in the classroom, Poul’s favorite way to spend a weekend is lacing up his boots and going hiking with his dog. 🥾🐶
