UPDATE: We asked, and you delivered (literally)! We are happy to say that we were “flooded” with donations and our supply is restocked. THANK YOU to everyone who dropped off water this week, your generosity was overwhelming! We are so proud to live and serve in such a supportive community!

Good morning Sugar Camp!

We've had an above-average number of emergency calls this summer, and our firefighters have been going strong! To help keep our crews hydrated and ready to respond, we're accepting donations of bottled water.

Donations can be dropped off at the Sugar Camp Fire Department between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. by leaving them at the fire station door. If those hours don't work for you, send us a message on our page, and we'll be happy to arrange a time to meet.

Thank you for your continued support of our department and the community we proudly serve! 🚒💙

The Sugar Camp School has their garden planted and is anxiously waiting for rain… Rather than wait for Mother Nature, Captain Kotarski headed over with Engine 1 today to talk about pump operation with students and give the garden a much needed soak!

Fire danger is very high again today, April 23, 2026, and burn permits have been suspended statewide where the DNR has fire protection responsibility.

Please avoid all burning until conditions improve.

Although the state received significant rainfall last week, the grasses and leaf litter on the ground dry out extremely quickly. Firefighters refer to this vegetation as "1-hour fuels" – in part, because they can dry out in about an hour after a rain event.

Fire can spready very quickly in 1-hour fuels with gusty winds and low relative humidity. In addition, northwest Wisconsin is still experiencing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions.

Check any recent burns for smoldering embers and make sure they are cold as fires have the potential to rekindle and escape today with increasing winds. Moderating conditions are expected tonight with rain moving in.
