Leadership Barron County

Leadership Barron County (LBC) is a community-based leadership organization.

The program begins in September with a leadership retreat for orientation and leadership training. The retreat is followed by monthly event days held on the second Tuesday of each month through May. Each monthly program will provide opportunities to learn about leadership and about a specific aspect of the Barron County community. The event days include interactive programs, presentations, discuss

ions, and on-site tours. In addition to the monthly sessions, participants will select and complete a community service project which addresses a current county issue. Approximately 12 participants are selected each year through a competitive application and interview process.

He initially joined at the encouragement of his company’s owner, but after learning more about the program, he was all in—and very glad he said yes.

🌱 Biggest takeaway:
Understanding different personality “colors” and how they translate into leadership styles has helped him communicate and work with others more effectively.

🏆 Favorite program day:
Rice Lake Day! From Northwood Tech and local businesses to the Curling Club and Boys & Girls Club, it was a great look at everything the community has to offer.

🏡 What surprised him most about Barron County?
After living here for 25 years, he was surprised by how much there was still to discover about the businesses, organizations, and people right here in our county.

👋 About him:
Sales Manager for the Commercial Roofing, Residential Roofing, and Exteriors divisions at J&A Northwest. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife, Tabatha, their family, and their very spoiled yellow lab, Henry.

Because strong communities are built by people who are willing to invest in them. Serving on the board allows Lacey to help develop future leaders while strengthening connections across Barron County.

The best leaders don't have all the answers they listen, build trust, bring people together, and lead with humility and a heart to serve.

🏆 Favorite program day:
Graduation Day. Watching participants reflect on their journey and discover a deeper appreciation for Barron County is what makes the program so meaningful.

🏡 What surprised her most about Barron County?
The incredible number of entrepreneurs and small businesses that started with a simple idea. Leadership Barron County opened her eyes to the collaboration, partnerships, and people working every day to make our communities stronger.

🌱 Featured Business: Aqua Garden LLC

💙 Why Leadership Barron County?
Leadership Barron County had been on my list for years, and when I finally had the opportunity to join, it exceeded every expectation. The relationships I built both professionally and personally have lasted well beyond graduation, and I still keep in touch with many of my classmates.

🌱 Biggest takeaway:
The biggest leaders in our community invest in others. They invite people to the table, listen to different perspectives, and lead by example. One of the best parts of the program was meeting the incredible leaders who make Barron County such a special place.

🏆 Favorite program day:
I have two! Chetek Day for its incredible small businesses and the way the community supports one another, and Barron County Justice Center Day, where I could have spent all day learning about the work happening behind the scenes.

🏡 What surprised me most about Barron County?
As someone who loves telling businesses' stories, I was amazed by how many incredible companies are right here in Barron County. Getting to hear the stories behind those businesses and meet the leaders with the vision to build them gives me an even greater appreciation for our community.

👋 About me:
I'm the owner of Sidekick Social and Sidekick Travel Co., two businesses built around relationships. Whether I'm helping a local business tell its story or designing a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, my goal is always the same to connect people, create meaningful experiences, and make a positive impact in our community.

💬 My advice:
Everyone should apply! Whether you're a business owner or an employee, Leadership Barron County is an investment in yourself. You'll gain lifelong friendships, discover your leadership style, and become part of something much bigger than you ever imagined.

Leadership starts with connection.

Each fall, our new Leadership Barron County class kicks off the year with a retreat designed to build a strong foundation for the journey ahead.
Together, participants explore leadership topics, discover different communication and personality styles, learn what it takes to lead effective teams, and begin building relationships with classmates who will share this experience throughout the year.
By the time the retreat is over, they're no longer just a group of professionals from across Barron County, they're a team, ready to learn, grow, and lead together.
