Today the City of Riceboro established July 28, 2026 as DeLisha Milton Jones Day. The Riceboro native and Bradwell Institute Alumna is one of the most accomplished players in WNBA franchise history. The Los Angeles Sparks will honor Milton-Jones by retiring her jersey during a special halftime ceremony on Tuesday, July 28, when the Sparks host the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. at Crypto.com Arena.

Mayor Chris Stacy, the Riceboro City Council, and the entire City of Riceboro family wish you and your loved ones a safe, happy, and blessed Fourth of July.

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who fought—and continue to serve—to protect the freedoms we enjoy. As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors, let us also remember the importance of unity, service, and community.

We are grateful to call Riceboro home and thankful for each resident, business, volunteer, first responder, and military family who helps make our city a wonderful place to live.

Have a joyful Independence Day. Please celebrate responsibly, stay safe, and may God continue to bless the City of Riceboro, the great State of Georgia, and the United States of America.

The 2026 Session of the Riceboro Summer Youth Program has officially come to an end! This summer we welcomed 25 high school students to our program. They all learned valuable workforce readiness skills that will propel them into success in their futures.

On yesterday we held our culminating ceremony recognizing our student employees. Dr. Anthony K. Johnson was our speaker and gave students impactful insight into the importance of making good choices. Each student was recognized for their hard work and dedication throughout the program.

The Riceboro SYP appreciates each of the businesses that worked with our students for the summer. Special thank you to SNF Holding Company, Keep Liberty Beautiful, Triple J’s Auto & Trucking Center, Alice and Mary Wonderland Preschool, Liberty County Boys & Girls Club, Midway City Hall, Riceboro City Hall, Hinesville Housing Authority, Liberty County Board of Education, Midway Middle School, Liberty Elementary School and Liberty County High School. Without you all, our students would not be able to have real-world employment experiences. You are appreciated!

Thank you to our elected and appointed officials that engaged our students through involvement in their monthly meetings: Riceboro City Council, Liberty County Board of Commissioners and Liberty County Board of Education.

An abundance of gratitude is extended to Mayor Chris Stacy, Mayor Pro-Tem Louise Brown and the Riceboro City Council for ensuring the success of this program each year. Since its inception in 2010, the Riceboro Summer Youth Program has been fully funded by the City of Riceboro. We appreciate you all for investing in the future of our community and our world.

Lastly, thank you to the students for embarking upon this journey. It is no small feat that you sacrificed a portion of your summer to gain important life skills. Your dedication to who you are now, will absolutely reap benefits later. Your city is extremely proud of you and all that you do!

Our final Friday session with our Summer Youth Program has come so quickly! Today we took the students on our annual cultural heritage tour.
Students visited:
1. The Historical Baptismal Trail
2. First African Baptist Church
3. Susie King Taylor Freedom Park (Huge thank you to Mrs. Hermina Glass-Hill for a wonderful and engaging history lesson!)
4. Briar Bay Praise House
We are delighted to share with our students the rich history that Liberty County and Riceboro have to offer. Only one more week left of our Summer Youth Program!
