❄️ Winter Storm Safety ❄️
Snow, ice, freezing temperatures, hazardous road conditions, and potential power outages are expected in our region. Please keep these safety tips in mind to help protect yourself, your family, and our community:
🚗 Hazardous Road Conditions
Roads may become slick and dangerous due to snow and ice. Avoid unnecessary travel, slow down, increase following distance, and be alert for emergency vehicles responding to calls.
🔥 Portable Heaters
Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn. Many winter house fires are caused by heaters placed too close to furniture, curtains, or bedding.
⚡ Portable Generators
Gas or diesel generators must be used OUTDOORS only in well-ventilated areas. Never run generators inside homes, garages, or near windows and doors. Doing so can cause deadly carbon monoxide buildup.
⚠️ Downed Power Lines
Treat all downed power lines as live and dangerous. Snow and ice can cause lines to fall, and approaching or touching them can result in serious injury or death. Stay away and report them immediately.
🚒 Help Your Firefighters
Clear snow and ice from nearby fire hydrants and ensure house numbers are visible. This helps emergency crews find hydrants and your home quickly—when every second counts.
Your preparation makes a real difference. Stay safe and stay warm.
