Bates County Sheriff’s Office Mourns the Loss of Corrections Officer C**t Brown
It is with profound sadness that the Bates County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of Corrections Officer C**t Brown.
Officer Brown faithfully served the citizens of Bates County after joining the Sheriff’s Office in February 2026. During his time with the department, he earned the respect and friendship of his fellow officers through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving others.
While on duty, Officer Brown suffered a sudden stroke and was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition. Despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals and the prayers of countless family members, friends, and community members, Officer Brown passed away peacefully on July 22, surrounded by his loving family.
This is a tremendous loss for the Brown family, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office, and the entire Bates County community. We ask that everyone keep his family, friends, and fellow deputies in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
At this time, deputies from the Bates County Sheriff’s Office are en route to es**rt Officer Brown home to Bates County. Funeral arrangements are being made through Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, and additional information regarding visitation and funeral services will be released as it becomes available.
Officer Brown answered the call to serve with honor, and his memory will forever remain a part of the Bates County Sheriff’s Office family. His dedication, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.
