May 28, 2019 we will speak at the Dallas jail at the invitation of Prison Fellowship ministry on domestic violence prevention, making safe and sane choices, and faith-filled success tips by AADVP founder Margie Downey in her becoming an overcomer of abuse and violence.

We had a wonderful speaking event on March 30, 2019 in Irving, TX in conjunction with Joy Restored Outreach. We brought all three board members to speak on what helped them survive abuse and violence, had info tables, were on a featured panel, interacted with the public including current and past victims of violence, and networked for future service opportunities. This day was special in having a strong Christian faith emphasis by many of the speakers, including us.

Things have been quiet lately as we focused on fundraising and growing the board of directors the last few months. Please contact us through our web site abigailsangels.org for safety assistance personally or for speaking events, charitable donations, or for volunteering. We are learning to use Facebook and trying to get a collegiate on board, who is handy with Facebook to help with regular posts here. Thanks for your patience while we learn and grow and add talent!

We recently met at Plano, TX on the campus of Collin College and discussed domestic violence prevention with 700 students at a Dignity Initiative/ "Dancing for Dignity" event. We got another radio broadcast invitation from one participant and offers for social media video clips production from another, too! Best of all was the one-on-one visiting with victims who got out of violent relationships recently, or those loved ones who were worried about friends and family and asking us for tips and guidance of HOW TO HELP! It was a great day.

In providing assistance to a homeless domestic violence victim 1-29-15, we were observed in action and accidentally overheard by an incognito, local radio personality. He asked us for a radio interview soon to tell more about Abigail's Archangels Domestic Violence Prevention. He has two radio shows and possibly a TV show he could use to open doors to us. More news will follow as it unfolds on those opportunities.

I attended a Stronger Than Espresso booth in McKinney at a big volunteer fair and enjoyed hearing the brave story of Brooke, their founder. We are connecting even more with other groups reaching out to women with hope, faith, courage, and resources and action steps. Brooke is a dynamo!

We had a great booth at a domestic violence prevention rally at Collin College in Plano, TX recently. It was good to meet hundreds of college students wanting to help our charity as volunteers, or needing services to get out of bad relationships and get safe themselves. We are here for you!

We so appreciate all the 4th quarter generous gifts sent to help families struggling out of domestic abuse this year. Those funds are needed at the end of the year, when many families are so stressed and violence escalates. We helped several households in the last month, and expect to have additional families to intervene with in December.

I helped Mary several days ago, whose married sister is in a bad situation at home. Mary lives there temporarily and was able to say, "I can't help her if she won't change, I can just do what is right for me." When I met her, she was walking down the sidewalk wearing an oversized trench coat, to get out of the home a few hours, despite the cold, windy day. Things were too hostile in the home, so she went walking with a coat and $5 bill. I told her Jesus loves her and her sister and wants good for them, and gave her a hug. We talked a while and lingered to hear her pour out her heartaches. Be Jesus to the people you meet. Even if it means you have to U-turn the car sometimes, like I did that day.

We enjoyed meeting dozens of folks recently at vendor events at apartment complexes in N TX in July. Some shared their stories of escaping domestic violence, and many contributed cash or promised to help. Thanks for signing up to be part of the team to increase safe families!

About the logo: Abigail was the wise and gracious, faith-filled second wife of David in the Bible, whom David married days after her abusive, cruel husband died. God himself killed her first husband Nabal with a heart attack for failing to share reasonable provisions for David and his large army, who had been guarding his flocks and servants in the fields.

This was during the years when David was annointed King of Israel, but had not taken possession of the throne yet, choosing to let God decide when he would be crowned. David and his devoted army fled for years, staying ahead of the insane and jealous King Saul's efforts to kill David, the challenger to his throne and posterity. The legal responsibility of wealthy Nabal in the scenario, as well as the God-fearing and politically respectful duty, was to provide provisions for the visiting guards and certainly to the annointed king-to-be. This duty was ignored and despised. To make the illustration more complete, narcissistic Nabal was feasting like a king for a holiday when he refused to send the army any food at all.

God protected Abigail from her cruel husband- whom she had been making excuses for to the community for years, trying to smooth things out- and blessed her with David as a new husband, provider, and guardian. Abigail got a fresh start in life as a wife and eventually as a mother.

The archangels in the name of our company are because it must be archangels, the strongest angels, who stand in defense of abused women and frightened children and all hell's fury against their safety. So, the large A's are for Abigail's Archangels, the wings and halos for holy protection, and the inclined tilt of the A's is for assisting personally and intimately. The logo was inspired by and drawn by Margie Downey, our company's founder. This complete Bible story is found in I Samuel 25:1-26:4. The logo and name are copyrighted.

I went to a new meetup group last night and shared parts of my survovor story with some moms there who were struggling with the same difficulties I had faced when I was getting safe. It seems like self esteem and being able to reach out to new relationships is a painful part of rebuilding life, even long after, for many of us. But, we must to live as we were meant to live.
