On August 14th, we hosted our monthly Food Distribution event for clients in our program. We were able to serve 82 individuals this round, more than double our last distribution! Thanks to Selda Bakery, Sprouts grocery store, Local Good Center, Trinity Fellowship, and our amazing staff and volunteers for making this possible! 🎉

We cannot do this each month without the support from our community, so thank you for showing up each and every time to help our neighbors feel welcomed and supported.

We were delighted to host an Afghan Women’s Sisterhood Tea, where members of our community gathered to celebrate sisterhood and belonging! 💛

They completed an activity where they created an artistic Sisterhood tree, adding flowers and leaves with words that solidified a commitment to support and love each other and make a stronger community.

We are proud to be able to provide a space where refugee women can spend time together and form a strong bond with one another! ✨

Last week, we had the honor of attending the First Annual Human Rights Fair right here in Dallas. 🎉

Advocates, neighbors, community members and changemakers all gathered in one place reminded us of exactly why this kind of work matters. We are proud to be part of a city with a bold vision: a place where every person, regardless of where they come from, is welcomed, valued, and protected.

This past Monday, we were proud to join our community in solidarity of our immigrant neighbors by attending a vigil held outside of Dallas’ ICE detention facility by CLEAR DFW, an interfaith coalition of over 40+ clergy people who advocate for social justice reform from a faith perspective.

We spent the morning holding signs, praying, and being in fellowship with like-minded individuals. At our core, we believe in a world where everyone has a safe place to call home, and we will do what we can to advocate for those rights.

We have more exciting news – our Afghan Women’s Sewing Cohort launched this week! 🎉 This cohort will teach five Afghan women how to sew to teach them self-sustaining skills and help them build a stronger community here in Dallas.

Thank you to those who donated funds and supplies to help get this program off the ground. We could not have met our goal without your support. Stay tuned over the next few weeks to see how the class is progressing! 💛

On Friday, we were able to launch the CWS Dallas Global Neighbor Food Pantry! 🎉 We have many to thank for helping us put food on our neighbor’s tables – to start we'd like to thank a group in particular who were involved in building the foundation for a successful launch.

Trinity Fellowship Church has been a longstanding partner of CWS Dallas, offering the gift of their space, the hearts of their staff and the drive to support their refugee neighbors. When they launched their Community Garden about two years ago, they shared their vision that the food that was growing in their soil would feed refugee families in need.

Lisa, who is the heart behind the garden, has been a steadfast and dedicated partner. Her hard work and all the many hands who helped tend the soil have been part of the journey to fill the tables and hearts of families building hope and resiliency here in Dallas. Because of your care, families get to come pick up food to feed their families and get to see exactly where that food came from!

We are excited to announce that we have officially launched CWS Dallas’ Global Neighbor Food Pantry! 🎉 We knew that many of our clients were going to lose access to SNAP benefits due to a bill that was signed into law by the current administration. We knew that our clients would need more assistance than before, so we are meeting the moment by making sure our neighbors can put food on their tables!

Many have already generously supported the launch of our Global Neighbor Pantry, but we still need your help to stock up our food pantry with shelf stable items that our families can use weekly. Can you commit to feeding your global neighbors with us?
