#NWYCActionAlert: $908 billion COVID-19 relief package

The group of Senate and House lawmakers negotiating a $908 billion COVID-19 relief package has reached agreement on business liability waivers and state and local government aid provisions, but those will be broken into a separate bill, according to a source familiar with the plan.

What the Electoral College vote means for Trump and Biden

All 50 states have already certified their election results, but the Electoral College vote makes the result official. That vote takes place today. Since 1946, there have only been 16 electors that have switched their votes from one popular vote winner to another candidate. Voting begins in states across our nation at 10:00 Eastern. Once the votes are cast and Joe Biden passes the 270 mark, he will officially be president-elect and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris the vice president-elect. NBC News reviews the process.

The presidential race will be officially decided Monday. There's almost no way to change the outcome.

Wondering what is happening on the road to the inauguration? Mid-November through December 14, 2020, states are busy sending Certificates of Ascertainment to the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. The Certificates of Ascertainment list the names of the electors appointed and the number of votes cast for each person. The States prepares no less than SEVEN originals, which are
authenticated by the Governor’s signature and the State seal, and TWO certified copies. One original and two certified copies are then sent to the Archivist, David S.
Ferriero, c/o Office of the Federal Register (F) "as soon as practicable" after their States certify election results. The remaining SIX original Certificates of Ascertainment will be attached to the Certificates of Vote at the State meetings.

Action Alert: MORE Act - Marijuana Legalization

#NWYCActionAlert: The House is set to vote on H.R.3884 - MORE Act (Marijuana Decriminalization) which would decriminalize marijuana use at the federal level. The MORE Act would remove marijuana as a Schedule I substance, a category that also features other drugs, such as heroin, LSD, ecstasy, and peyote, and leave states to regulate it. It would also expunge federal marijuana convictions and arrests and approve the allocation of resources for communities affected by the war on drugs, according to the bill's text.
