Hi my name is Patti Horn and I am with Richfield Animal Control. I have a story to share. June 18th 2025 I received information about a dog on the side of Wheatley Rd between 77 and Glen Cairn. What I found was the dog had been tied to a tree down in a ravine, fortunately for her she slipped her leash and made her way up to Wheatley, she was so scared she would bolt into the woods whenever anyone approached. I called the fantastic duo, Tom and Tammy Slopak of K9 Recovery to set a trap for her. That evening we had torrential rains and the ravine flooded and the trap was washed away. Thankfully K9 Recovery responded and reset the trap. The dog now called Juno was trapped shortly afterward. No ID tags or microchip. We went thru all the proper wait times and then looked for a rescue who could take her in, vett her and put her up for adoption. Juno was fostered for 3 months by an amazing person whose living situation changed, and unfortunately Juno had to be returned. I fostered her until February 2026, but personal circumstances forced me to relinquish her back to the rescue. Due to a lack of folks to foster her, Juno has been living in a cramped space at a veterinarian office, the staff care for her and there are volunteers who walk her and spend time with her, but she deserves a home. Juno has a high prey drive (cats & small animals) and has not spent time around small children, she has learned to walk well on a leash and she loves other dogs to run and rough house with.
Juno is available to foster or adopt thru Kanesmission.org. Juno’s details are provided on their website. Please if anyone is interested or considering adding a new member to their family, I beg you to consider Juno. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and any prayers for this most deserving dog.

Our mission is to connect the abused, neglected or discarded companion animal with a lifetime of safety, health & happiness.
