Richland Center Fire Department

Richland Center Fire Department The Richland Fire Department is a paid on call department providing fire and rescue services for 310 miles of Richland County, WI.

The Richland Fire Department is a paid on call volunteer department comprised of 45 members including seven line officers and the chief. The department’s proper legal name is the Richland Fire Department, but it is also known as the Richland Center Fire Department (RCFD). Our department protects the City of Richland Center, WI, one incorporated village, and all or parts of twelve of Richland Count

ies sixteen townships. The area protected by the RCFD comprises of 310 square miles, with all of our fire equipment being housed in a single station in the city of Richland Center, WI, the county seat for Richland County. We travel to the county line in two different directions from our station. This makes our department one of the largest first response service areas in the entire state protected by a fire department either volunteer or full time in the state of Wisconsin. 🔥 RCFD Fire Prevention Message – June Fire Safety 🔥

As we head into summer, the Richland Center Fire Department would like to remind everyone to practice safe outdoor burning and grilling habits.

☀️ Summer Fire Safety Tips:
• Never leave a grill unattended while cooking.
• Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and other combustible materials.
• Dispose of charcoal ashes in a metal container and allow them to cool completely.
• Check local burning regulations before starting any outdoor fire.
• Always have a water source, hose, or fire extinguisher nearby when burning.
• Keep children and pets away from grills, campfires, and fire pits.
• Fully extinguish campfires before leaving the area.

🚒 Remember: Dry grass, windy conditions, and unattended fires can quickly turn a small fire into a large emergency.

At last night’s meeting, we officially took 6 firefighters off probationary status. This is a big milestone that takes a lot of training, dedication, and hard work to achieve.

From left to right: Brock Banker, Dustin Twining, Dayton Scott, Tyler Colson, Gaige Wertz, and Trevyn Thielmann.

Congratulations to these gentlemen on all their hard work and dedication to the department and community. Great job guys! 🚒

Yesterday, members of the Richland Center Fire Department (RCFD) had the opportunity to participate alongside other emergency service organizations in a challenge as part of the Walk with Grace event.

It was a great day of teamwork, friendly competition, and community involvement. Events like this not only bring agencies together, but also help support an important cause and strengthen the relationships we rely on every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event and to all the participants who made it such a success. We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up and supports one another!

🚒 Last Night the Richland Center Fire Department Conducted Annual Hose Testing 🚒

Last night, members of the Richland Center Fire Department completed our annual hose testing while enjoying a beautiful sunset over Richland Center.

Each year, every fire hose on our apparatus is pressure tested to ensure it is safe, dependable, and ready to perform when called upon. This process helps us identify any weak spots, damage, or wear before the hose is needed on an emergency scene.

Preventive maintenance like this is a critical part of keeping our equipment in top condition and ensuring we are always prepared to serve our community—rain or shine, and sometimes with a pretty good view.

Last night at our fire meeting, we recognized Derek Goplen for 12 years of dedicated service to the Richland Center Fire Department.

Derek will be leaving us at the end of the month to pursue his dream of becoming a helicopter pilot, with hopes of one day flying a medical helicopter. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re proud to see him chase his goals.

Over the years, Derek has worn many hats. He served not only as a firefighter, but also spent time as a fire inspector. Most recently, he has been leading our Cadet Program, helping shape the next generation of firefighters. Derek has also been a full-time EMT with Richland County Ambulance, continuing his commitment to helping others.

Before officially joining the department in May of 2014, Derek was actively involved for many years in what was then known as the Explorers Program (junior firefighters).

Derek, thank you for your years of service, dedication, and leadership. And who knows — we might even see Derek back with us again in the future.

Please join us in wishing him a safe, successful, and happy career in the skies! 🚁

🚒 NEW APPARATUS ALERT 🚒

After months of planning, fundraising, and careful consideration… RCFD is proud to announce the addition of our newest unit:

🔥 Engine 711½ – The All-Electric, Self-Driving Fire Truck 🔥

This state-of-the-art apparatus features:
• Autonomous response (no crew needed 😎)
• Built-in coffee maker for long calls ☕
• WiFi hotspot for reports on scene 📶
• And a siren that plays polka music 🎶

We expect this unit to drastically reduce response times… as long as it doesn’t need to stop for a software update on the way.

👉 In all seriousness — Happy April Fools Day!

We hope everyone has a safe and fun day. And remember… no matter what you hear today, always trust your smoke detectors — not your friends 😄🔥
