Political Cheat Sheets, Episode 2: What does “flippable district” actually mean?
It does not mean somebody knows how you are going to vote. It means strategists are looking at the bigger picture: past election results, who lives and votes together inside a district, who is likely to turn out, and whether voting rules make participation easier or harder.
“Flippable” is not a prediction. It is an opportunity.
And in Texas, that matters. The people drawing maps and changing election rules are telling you that outcomes are worth fighting over. Do not let “Texas is a red state” become an excuse to sit out the fight before it starts.
Watch the video, save the cheat sheet, and tell me in the comments: What political term should I translate next?
You are a citizen, not a subject. Act like it, y’all.

New series: Political Cheat Sheets.
You do not need a statistics degree to understand a poll — but you do need more than the headline.
A sample size, a margin of error, who was asked, and how the poll was conducted can tell you far more than a candidate being “up three.” And a three-point lead is not always the same thing as a reliable advantage.
This is the first Political Cheat Sheet: a quick way to read a poll, stay skeptical, and ask better questions before somebody else tells you what to think.
Save this for the next time a poll lands in the group chat. Then follow/subscribe for the next cheat sheet: what a “flippable district” actually means — and why voting rules are part of that story.
You are a citizen, not a subject. Remember to act like it, y’all.

Trump hired a man to keep our elections secure.
That man said 2020 was the most secure election in American history.
Trump fired him.
That man is now under federal investigation.

Happy Fourth of July. Here's my honest one.
I grew up crying at Lee Greenwood. I also grew up arguing with my officer dad that Texas was a police state. I watched Sandy Hook live on air while holding my first child. I lived in a "pro-life" state with some of the worst maternal health outcomes in the country and was told that was freedom.
The disconnect between America's ideals and America's reality has followed me my whole life. I'm guessing it's followed you too.
This Fourth, I wrote about why I'm still proud anyway — and why I think that pride is actually the most radical thing we can hold onto right now.

It takes the shameless to do the shameful.
I say this constantly when I'm predicting what a politician or organization is going to do next — and it never stops being true. The rest of us keep waiting for the moment they feel embarrassed enough to stop.
That moment is never coming.
Stitch this with your example. What shameless move have you watched an elected official or candidate pull lately? Drop it in the comments or stitch it and call them out. 👇
More coming soon. 👀

On Tuesday, the legal battle challenging state rules over consumable h**p products played out in an Austin courtroom, days before a pause in enforcement runs out.

They didn't change the law. They just changed the math. Here is how Texas regulators are using a hypothetical formula to ban h**p without a single legislative vote. Full breakdown on my Substack (link in bio).

Happy 4/20 to the suburban moms. To the veterans managing pain. To the young professionals who prefer a gummy over a hangover.

The politicians trying to ban this plant want you to think today is just a holiday for "stoners." That stereotype is outdated, and honestly, it’s a political strategy. As long as they can convince you that cannabis is a fringe issue for a fringe group, they don't have to answer for the billions in tax revenue they're leaving on the table, the veterans they're ignoring, or the personal autonomy they're stripping away.

We are making w**d uncool. We are making it normal. And we are making it a voting issue.

Cannabis policy isn't just about a plant. It's about healthcare access, criminal justice, property rights, and whether the government gets to dictate what you put in your own body.

If you use it, don't hide it. The stigma only survives if we let it. Happy 4/20. 🍃
