Prayers go out to Jake Johnson and his family during this difficult time. Wishing him strength, and hoping for a safe, full, and speedy recovery.

Support Firefighter Jake Johnson's Recovery After Life-Threatening Fall

On the morning of July 19, Jake Johnson was involved in a critical accident involving a fall of significant height, resulting in serious physical trauma. A swift joint response from Olympia Fire Fighters and Tumwater Firefighters members provided rapid stabilization, and Tumwater Fire Medics transported Jake to Providence St. Peter Hospital. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Harborview Medical Center.

Medically, Jake remains in incredibly fragile condition. His care team continues to manage ongoing abdominal trauma, which took a turn for the worse July 21st. Faced with difficult choices, his family made the decision to place him on an ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) device. This system is currently oxygenating his blood and bypassing normal bodily systems to allow his organs to rest while the medical team formulates the next stages of intervention and treatment. Jake remains stable, giving his body crucial time to rest.

He has already survived multiple surgeries to repair the internal injuries, but he remains in the Trauma intensive care unit. Jake faces a long, grueling road to recovery before he can ever think about putting his boots back on. As a first responder, Jake is always the first to run toward danger to help strangers. Now, he and his family need us to step up for them.

The financial burden of an accident like this is overwhelming. Your donations will go directly toward:
▶️Medical Deductibles: Covering the immediate out-of-pocket hospital bills.
▶️Household Stability: Paying for rent, groceries, and utilities while Jake cannot work.
▶️Family Support: Travel, lodging, and daily meals for his family as they stay by his bedside at the regional trauma center.

This week, several elected members of I-24's executive board had the opportunity to participate in the 87th Annual WSCFF convention. Attendance at these conventions is crucial for our board, as it provides opportunities to drive change and introduce resolutions that benefit both our members and our organization. We appreciate President Reese, Vice President Osorio, and E-Board members Loffler and Strege for dedicating time to contribute to our organization's growth and local impact!
