Sending out friends over at Ger.ania Volunteer Fire Company our condolences.

It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Past Galloway Township Fire Department Chief, and Past Germania Fire Company #2 Chief and Life Member, Ronald Garbutt Jr. Chief Garbutt will be greatly missed throughout the township, community, and our department.

Funeral details will be posted at a later time.

Thank you for your dedicated service to all, Chief. We will take it from here.

Local manpower shortages of volunteer firefighters.
Men need to stop saying "I dont have time" which is a slap in the face to the few men that do respond to fires. No one has all the time in the world but every physicaly able man has a window of time..and if every man gave his window of time which there may or may not be a fire, then the shortage of manpower is solved. Or everyone can just say " not my problem" and expect higher taxes for a paid fire department that get 200 to 300 calls a year.
The Fall Atlantic County Firefighter 1 training semester begins Feb 19th. NO COST TO THE NEW RECRUITS. message me if you would like more information.

🚨Santa Sighting Alert! Festive Richland residents: Be sure to keep an eye out for Santa and his fire fighting helpers on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 (This Saturday!). Santa will be leaving the fire house around 6pm. 🚒

If you are worried about missing him, don't fret, catching a sighting of him at Michael Debbie Park around 6:30pm, is your best bet!🎅

It's that time of year to talk about fireplace safety.
Always remember to have your chimney cleaned by a professional annually.
Never leave a fire unattended. Be sure to close the fireplace doors when you leave the room.
Always use a screen to prevent sparks from flying out.
Maintain a three-foot clearance. Keep furniture, decorations, and other combustibles at least three feet away from the fireplace.
Only burn approved materials: Only burn dry wood or other fuels designed for indoor fireplaces. Never burn trash, wrapping paper, or cardboard.
Be sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home and check them monthly.
After fires, make sure the ashes are completely cool before placing them in a metal container with a lid. Store the container at least 10 feet away from your home.
