Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation Enriching educational opportunities for the students and staff at Gull Lake Community Schools, Richland, Michigan

The Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation was founded in 1983 by a group of caring, committed members of our community who wanted to find ways to help our schools, teaching staff, and students. Today, we are an organization of business people, parents, community leaders, neighbors, and friends. We are from all walks of our community’s life, yet our goal is the same: educational excellence. By w

orking together, we will help bridge the financial gap between equipping our children for their world and the public funding our schools receive. We enable our schools — our teachers, administrators and students — to be the best they can be.

As the school year winds down and the graduation festivities begin, the GLCS Foundation would like to take this moment to highlight the honored educators from our Distinguished Academic Scholars reception. Each DAS student selected an educator who made an impact on their education and experience at Gull Lake Community Schools. We are thrilled to honor the DAS students, their hard work, and the educators who helped them get to this place of success in their senior year.

Congratulations to the class of 2026 - we wish you all a bright and successful future!

The GLCS Foundation recently celebrated the Class of 2026 Distinguished Academic Scholars at our annual reception at the Gilmore Car Museum. Each year, the DAS students select an Honored Educator to join them at the reception, along with their families and members of GLCS administration. They share with everyone why their Honored Educator is significant and how they made an impact on their lives. It is a privilege and an honor to host this annual celebration for 53 GLHS seniors who achieved a 3.9 or above GPA and their Honored Educators.

One Community, One Book update!

Students in grades 5-8 were gifted the book “Restart” as part of the One Community, One Book literacy program and partnership with Gull Lake Comminity Schools. In this story, the main character develops amnesia and discovers an opportunity to ‘restart’ and change his life choices. Focusing on key themes of; conflict and growth, friendship, and changing perspectives, this was an exceptional book for this age group. Learning about choices and the consequences of bullying, “Restart” offered an exercise in what the possibility of change can bring in life.

This amazing display is a product of the engagement and unique process that the OCOB program provides GL students to comprehend literature. We are grateful for the shared vision staff and administration have for expanding and enhancing education at GLCS.

This glimpse into the perspective of students and the impact literacy has on them is why GLCS Foundation is dedicated to supporting education and Gull Lake Community Schools!

Thank you to our donors and sponsors who make it possible for us to continue programs like this for all GL students.
