The Council has formally dissolved as a non-profit organization in November, 2022.

We are proud to have provided service to protect, conserve and manage the water resources in the watersheds of the Four Townships for almost 40 years.

We have distributed our financial assets to the Southwest Michigan Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, Kalamazoo River Watershed Council and Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, knowing that they will carry on the necessary work.

The Kalamazoo River Watershed Council will maintain and implement the Watershed Management Plan of the Four Townships which can now be found at their webpage, www.KalamazooRiver.org, along with our most valuable publications and a history of the Council.

Thank you for the support we have received from the community and our many partners and for the opportunity to do this valuable work.

Check out our Fish Collection Dashboard, where you can explore the number and chemical concentrations of fish collected around the Kalamazoo Watershed.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

(Note: This is NOT a Request for a Donation)

Since its creation in 1996, the Four-Township Water Resources Council (“FTWRC”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has served Barry, Prairieville, Richland, and Ross Townships to protect our water resources in order to preserve the natural beauty of where we live.

The FTWRC has now come to a crossroads as to whether or not we continue into the future, or cease to exist.

To that effect, we ask you to please complete our survey by going to our website and choosing one of two methods.

Thank you!!

As with many of the inland lakes in Michigan, Pine Lake water levels are quite high. The Barry County Drain Commission has received approval from the Michigan Department of EGLE to pump water from Pine Lake into a wetlands on the far side of Doster Road at the west end of the lake to initiate a drawdown.

Latest update on the Drain Commission response to the flooding on Upper Crooked Lake. Besides lowering the lake level of UCL, most of the proposed remedy will impact the waters and lands to the north of the Four Township area watersheds, transporting water into a retention pond north of Delton Road and then into Mud/Jones Lake, Wilkerson Lake, Cloverdale Lake, Long Lake, Falls Creek, the Thornapple River, and the Grand River.

This will move water from the Kalamazoo River Watershed to the Grand River Watershed. A major environmental concern is preventing the transport of aquatic invasive species.
