Derek plays a vital role in ensuring our crews are prepared to provide the highest level of care possible. He conducts chart audits, coordinates base education, trains new hires, and facilitates our Clinical Internship Program — helping shape the next generation of flight clinicians. His dedication to education, accountability, and mentorship helps strengthen our entire team and ultimately improves outcomes for the patients and communities we serve.

Getting to know the heroes in the helicopter helps build the trust, teamwork, and relationships that are at the heart of what we do. Thank you, Derek, for your leadership, professionalism, and commitment to clinical excellence. 🚁

This is the new countywide notification system for all major alerts in our county. Please take a minute, follow the links and signup.

NEW MASS NOTIFICATION ALERT is now ready for Spencer County!

RAVE ALERT/SMART911 has replaced Code Red for Weather Alerts and Public Safety Notifications.

SMART911 allows you to create a safety profile of valuable information you want to provide 911 Dispatch and First Responders. You can put as much information as you want or as little, it’s up to you. It’s private and secure and will only be seen by the 911 Dispatch screen when you make the emergency call. SMART911 only asks for information that is relevant to aid in emergency response and will quickly provide responders with important information for medical conditions.

RAVE ALERT allows you to opt in to geo-based severe weather alerts that is directly linked to the National Weather Service when a warning is issued and allows you to receive alerts that affect the location you choose.

This first link is for those who need to create a new account. Click on the link and follow the prompts. It will give you an option of which alerts you want to receive and how you want to receive them.

This link is a login for those who may already have a SMART911 account and you need to update it for Spencer County alerts.

RAVE and SMART911 are linked and when you create your account, it’s for both options. You decide what information you want to provide for SMART911, but you have to opt-in for the weather alerts and public safety alerts for those notifications.

Today at 5:48 PM, Luce Fire was dispatched to a house fire in Eureka. We were assisted by Ohio Township Fire, Yankeetown Fire, Spencer County EMS, and Spencer County Sheriff Department. The occupants escaped unharmed, but they did have a loss of their fur babies. Again the firefighters made a quick and aggressive interior attack which limited the overall damage from the fire. Thanks to all the departments and agencies that responded.
