FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Combat Veteran and WMU Aviation Professor Nick Rowe Announces Campaign for Michigan House District 42
Lt. Col. Nicholas “Nick” Rowe (USAF, Ret.), a retired Air Force combat pilot, aviation professor, and community leader, today announced his candidacy for the Michigan House of Representatives in District 42. Rowe is running to strengthen Michigan’s economy, lower the cost of living, support working families, and restore principled leadership in Lansing under the campaign slogan “Bring Integrity and Honor Back to Government.”
Rowe currently serves as an Aviation Faculty Specialist at Western Michigan University’s College of Aviation, where he helps prepare the next generation of aviation professionals for careers in one of the nation’s most critical industries. As an educator and union faculty member, he has worked to strengthen institutions, advocate for fair workplaces, and expand opportunities for Michigan students and workers.
Before entering higher education, Rowe served for more than two decades in the United States Air Force, flying combat missions and leading as a squadron commander. His military career was defined by leadership, accountability, and service — values he believes are urgently needed in state government.
“Michigan families are working harder than ever, yet too many feel like they’re falling further behind,” Rowe said. “People deserve leaders who will fight for a stronger economy, lower everyday costs, and real opportunities for the next generation. I’m running to bring common-sense leadership and a commitment to service back to Lansing.”
Rowe’s campaign will focus on strengthening Michigan’s economy, supporting small businesses, expanding career and technical education, and building stronger pathways from education to high-paying careers in skilled trades and growing industries.
He believes Michigan must invest in workforce development, protect opportunities for working families, and ensure that the state’s economic growth benefits communities across the region.
“My life has been defined by service — from flying combat missions to mentoring students and preparing them for meaningful careers,” Rowe said. “Leadership is about accountability, integrity, and putting others before yourself. That is exactly how I will serve the people of Michigan in Lansing.”
Additional information about the campaign and upcoming events will be announced in the coming weeks.
