As we bring National Police Week to a close and honor today as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we are forever grateful for the sacrifice law enforcement officers make on behalf of all of us each and every day.

Today, members of the District Attorney’s Office supported our local law enforcement officers as we honored and remembered those who lost their lives in the line of duty. It was a powerful and refreshing moment to witness God’s mighty hand move through the courtroom, bringing comfort, peace, and thankfulness for His mercy. We will never forget those who gave everything in service to others. Thank you members of law enforcement for your service.

One of the best facets of our jobs as prosecutors is advising and working closely with law enforcement. Today, a few of my Assistant District Attorneys and I had the opportunity to spend time with the Highway Patrol strengthening our relationship and discussing how we can better assist one another. When we work together, our communities are stronger and safer. 🚔

I also had the pleasure of bumping into a colleague from my Mecklenburg County DA’s Office days. Great to see you again, Captain Wi******er!

Today as many of us gathered for the National Day of Prayer, enjoying a moment of peace, fellowship, and reflection, Richmond County Sheriff’s officers stood ready to answer the call of duty at a moment’s notice. In the middle of the event, officers had to rush out without hesitation because someone needed help. That is the reality of their service. While we enjoy the comfort of safety and security, they willingly leave their families, meals, conversations, and even moments of worship to protect and serve others. Their bravery, sacrifice, and commitment often go unseen, but they should never go unappreciated.

Today and every day, I am grateful for the men and women of law enforcement who put service above self and answer the call no matter the time or circumstance. Thank you for all you do to keep our communities safe.

A graduate of Elon University, Chuom brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a commitment to public service to our office. We are excited to welcome him to our team and look forward to the positive impact he will have serving our communities. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming ADA Prak aboard!

Today is Denim Day. It is a powerful reminder that what someone wears is never an invitation or an excuse for sexual assault.

This day challenges harmful myths and shifts the focus where it belongs on accountability for perpetrators, not blame on victims. We all have a role in changing the narrative, speaking truth, and standing with survivors.

Let’s continue to educate, support, and fight for a world rooted in respect, dignity, and justice.
