🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍⚧️

This month, we celebrate the contributions, resilience, and diversity of our LGBTQIA+ community members. Pride is a time to honor the progress that has been made, recognize the work that still lies ahead, and uplift voices that deserve to be heard.

While June gives us a special opportunity to celebrate, supporting and valuing our LGBTQIA+ neighbors shouldn’t be limited to one month on the calendar. Building an inclusive, welcoming community is something we should strive for every day of the year.

This Pride Month, we celebrate. The other eleven months, we continue the work of listening, supporting, advocating, and standing together.

Happy Pride Month from the Bryan County Democratic Committee. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This month’s primary elections were a reminder that democracy depends on people who are willing to step forward and serve their communities. We want to congratulate all of the candidates who were successful in their races, and sincerely thank every person who put their name on the ballot and dedicated their time, energy, and heart to public service. Running for office is no small task, and every candidate deserves recognition for their commitment to civic engagement.

While several races were decided last night, some important contests are headed to a June runoff. We encourage everyone to stay informed, stay engaged, and make a plan to vote again in the runoff election on June 16. Our next general membership meeting is June 15.

Peter Hubbard made history when he flipped a Georgia Public Service Commission seat for the first time in 25 years, beating a sitting Republican incumbent by 26 POINTS! This year, he’s back on the ballot for a full 6-year term.

Just in his first months as Commissioner, he’s published a cost analysis about data centers, demanded an independent audit of Georgia Power’s profit margin, and testified in front of the state legislature on the need to protect consumers.

Also happening this year? A second commission seat is also on the ballot. If Democrats win both seats in November 2026, control of the commission will flip from a 3-2 Republican majority to a 3-2 Democratic majority for at least 4 years.

Congrats, Peter 🎉 Georgia Democrats are behind you all the way to November.
