🚒🔥 Automatic Aid Training🔥🚒

Strengthened interagency coordination is vital for our community's safety. Today, our crews completed joint training on aerial operations and relay pumping with Bryan County Fire & Rescue.

As automatic aid partners, we regularly respond together to structure fires across South Bryan. To ensure swift and seamless emergency operations Richmond Hill Fire Department and Bryan County personnel frequently train side-by-side. This hands-on training ensures our firefighters are thoroughly familiar with each other's tactics and equipment when seconds count.

Congratulations to the Bryan County Sheriff's Office on an impressive 16-11 victory over the Richmond Hill Fire Department in Saturday’s softball game! 🥎🏆

It was an incredible day filled with friendly competition, intense plays, and plenty of laughs.

RHFD put up a phenomenal fight, but the Sheriff's Office took home the bragging rights this time! We already cannot wait to do it all over again for a rematch this fall. 👮‍♂️👨‍🚒

🔥 Big congratulations to Apprentice Firefighter Swain on two massive milestones! 🎉

Swain just graduated high school and officially stepped up to become a full-time firefighter! 🚒👨‍🚒

From working hard as an apprentice to earning a permanent spot on the team, Swain has shown incredible dedication, grit, and passion for serving our community. We are incredibly proud to watch you trade the graduation cap for a fire helmet full-time. Please join us in celebrating Firefighter Swain!

📚 188,288 MINUTES READ! 🚒📖🍕

We are incredibly proud of the students at Frances Meeks Elementary for their record-breaking participation in our 5th Annual Hero Reading Challenge! Together, they logged a heroic 188,288 minutes and completed 550 book reviews!

A massive shoutout to our top reader who logged an amazing 7,000 minutes and wrote 125 reviews! 🏆

Our firefighters look forward to these Friday reading sessions all year long. It is a true joy to help build a lifelong love for learning and trust within our community.

Thank you to the incredible FMES staff and our partners at Papa's Pizza To Go Richmond Hill for making this program possible. We already cannot wait for next year!

This week, our crews are training on disoriented firefighters. Firefighters can get lost or trapped causing them to be separated from their crew in zero-visibility conditions. Lost or disoriented firefighters are the 2nd leading cause of line-of-duty deaths and injuries during structure fires.

When separated from their crew in a zero-visibility environment, firefighters rely heavily on touch, hearing, and training to escape the hostile conditions. Crews trained on calling Mayday, using a TIC (thermal imaging camera), ventilation, and hose coupling identification. Identifying the couplings allows a firefighter to know which way leads to the pump and which way leads to the fire.

🍕 PIZZA PARTY ALERT! 🍕Today, our crews had a blast celebrating the winners of the Hero Reading Challenge at Frances Meeks Elementary! A huge congratulations to the class in each grade that earned a delicious Papa's Pizza To Go Richmond Hill feast.
