The Air District has released a preliminary health risk assessment for the Chevron refinery, providing the Richmond community with new information about potential health risks associated with refinery emissions.
📊 The assessment found that estimated cancer risk and other health risks exceed Air District action levels. Under the Facility Risk Reduction Program, findings equal to or above these thresholds require Chevron to take action to reduce health risks.
🤝 Community participation is a critical part of this process. The Air District will host a public meeting to explain the findings and public comment process on September 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center.
➡️ The assessment is open for public comment through Monday, November 23, at 5 p.m. The Air District will review every comment received before finalizing the assessment. See the report: bit.ly/Health-Risk-Reduction
