..BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM CDT
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
between 3 and 5 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze.
Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...De Kalb and McHenry Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel
treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery
road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday
morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle. The latest road conditions for Illinois can be
obtained at www.gettingaroundillinois.com.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel
extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a
winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay in your
vehicle.

Monday morning is starting to set up to be a snowy mess. Higher accumulations now accompanied with blowing wind is looking like a realistic scenario. Traveling Monday morning will require great care. Treat tomorrow like the first snow of the winter. Roads will not have any pretreatment or residual salt left after the rain. Slower speeds and greater stopping distance will be required. Our team will be out Monday morning working on this snowy surprise

Vehicle Emission Testing and License Plate Stickers are coming to town!
On Saturday 2-21-26 between 9am and 4pm you can come to the Richmond Township @ 7812 Route 31 (just south of the high school ) and have your vehicle emissions tested. For many in the township this is required every 2 years.
Even if you are not required to test you have the opportunity to renew your license plate sticker here at this event as well.
This event is in partnership with the Illinois Air Team and will be hosted again in May, July, and December at our facilities.

Today our employees worked through the cold to push the snow back and prevent drifting onto the roadway. When the wind blows across many of the open fields through our township snow drifts can blow across the roads. Even though the snow stopped days ago our efforts continue daily to ensure our roadways remain as clean as possible.
(As you can see only a few inches of snow fall can create feet of snow in drift prone areas)

The Township, the Assessors office, and the Road District are not conducting drone operations and have no knowledge of whom may be. If you have concerns please contact your local law enforcement agency or the local FAA FSDO (Greater Chicago flight standards District office) @ 847-294-8700

North Solon Road at the Railroad Tracks

The railroad will be making repairs making the road impassable. Please follow the detour or adjust your route accordingly. We understand that this is inconvenient but the results will be a safer and smother crossing.

This incident did not involve any vehicles owned or operated by the township or the road district.
We are grateful that no one was seriously injured in this incident and are committed to working with our local emergency agencies to assist the community in times of need.

The Township offers brush pickup in the unincorporated parts of the township, all you have to do is sign up in advance. Visit rtrd.org/brush-pickup for details and to sign up.

The next brush pickup will start on 7/1 and will last into the next week due to the holiday and the quantity of request all ready received, please be patient if we don’t get to you on the first day.

Please abide by the size restrictions, Brush outside of the rules will NOT be picked up.

The Richmond Township Road District provides roadside brush pick up for residents within the unincorporated areas of the township. Brush pickup runs from April through October. Brush pick up begins...
