The next level of 2020 Jumanji may be here.

Looks like it’s time to start keeping close watch on the gulf.

Space City Weather is a straight forward weather source. Be prepared and be safe

Today's update consists of both a short weather outlook for the rest of this week, and a longer section on the threat posed by the tropics. In short, the latest model guidance suggests an increased likelihood that Invest 97L may impact Texas, although much uncertainty remains. We’ll also have to keep an eye on Invest 98L, but this seems a bit more of a distant threat.

To Our Fair Family,

Due to concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Fort Bend County Fair Board of Directors and Staff are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Fort Bend County Fair: the first cancellation since World War II. The Fort Bend County Fair was scheduled for September 25 – October 4.

After careful consideration for the health and safety of our community and fairgoers, the difficult decision was reached after months of discussions and planning with board members, staff, and committeemen, as well as with County and City officials. The Fair Association will faithfully and respectfully follow the City and County’s recommendation.

We will be honoring our mission of: “Benefiting Youth, Promoting Agriculture, and Supporting Education” by holding a modified livestock show and auctions and the queen’s scholarship contest pending approval of the COVID-19 mitigation plan. It is our intention that Grand Champions will be named, Scholarships will be awarded, and a Fair Queen will be crowned.

The Fair Association sincerely appreciates the community partnership and support. We will continue to work hard in bringing you the best fair experience…please join the longstanding tradition scheduled to run next year from September 24 – October 3, 2021.

Stay safe and watch for updates on our website and social media platforms connected with our fair.

Sean Gutierrez, 2020 Fort Bend County Fair President & the Fort Bend County Fair Association Board

Richmond Rotary club members,

I just cannot thank you enough for the gift bags your club provided to the staff on my unit at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. The staff on the covid 5 brazos unit is so grateful for what you did for us! The gift bags had lotions in them which are so perfect for our staff right now to combat the constant hand washing. Thank you for going above and beyond to bring that sense of community everywhere you go.
Thank you president elect Kirk Monroe, District Governor Gary L. Gillen, And Janice Gillen for delivering these goodies to me so I could distribute them. I was even able to share boxes of snacks with our sister covid unit and one of our ICU units! ❤️

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ROTARY RICHMOND, TX MEETINGS SUSPENDED

After consulting with Oakbend and the Board, I am suspending in-person Rotary meetings effective immediately. This will include the postponement of the Scholarship lunch.

We are in a unique situation meeting in a hospital. I am concerned that formal in-person meetings at the hospital pose an unnecessary risk to our club, our visitors, patients, hospital staff and hospital visitors.

At this time, I believe we should follow the model that the Rotary Club of Prague forged in the 20th century to survive. I suggest we meet in smaller groups from time to time while this is going on.

Stay safe......and stop hoarding toilet paper! :)

Yours In Rotary,

Eric Junker
