Collage is a wonderful medium for bringing a sense of calm and play to our busy days. While you focus on collecting, sorting, cutting, and gluing, other anxieties shift away from our immediate attention. Join local artist Erin McCluskey Wheeler for this free workshop to make a botanically inspired collage! All materials provided, open to all.
Each session will introduce new ideas about composition and color. Youβll be encouraged to experiment with materials (provided) and ideas. Inspired by the book, Creative First Aid: The science and joy of creativity for mental health, by Caitlin Marshall and Lizzie Rose.
Erin McCluskey is a third generation Richmond resident who works in painted paper collage, writing, paint, and found materials. She is a teaching artist with the 92nd Street Y in New York, Creativebug, and the Richmond Art Center. She has won multiple awards for her visual art and poetry and in 2022 was the featured cover and poster artist for Kolaj Magazineβs World Collage Day. In 2024, she published a book of her writing and photography, Dandelions. More at erinmccluskey.com
