🌼 Today is National Thoughtful Day! 🌼

Thoughtfulness does not have to involve a grand gesture. It can be as simple as checking on a neighbor, thanking someone who serves our community, offering a kind word, lending a helping hand, or taking a moment to truly listen.

It also means being thoughtful about the future of Richmond. Every decision we make and every act of care we show today can help create a stronger, brighter, and more welcoming community for generations to come.

I am incredibly grateful for the people of Richmond and for the kindness, pride, and positivity you bring to our community each day. Small acts of consideration can make a meaningful difference and create a ripple of goodness throughout our city.

Today, I encourage everyone to find one thoughtful way to let someone know they are seen, valued, and appreciated. Together, let’s continue looking out for one another and building a positive future for the Richmond we all love.

What thoughtful act will you share today?

🚒 A NEW CHAPTER FOR AN OLD RICHMOND LANDMARK! 🦪

Today, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Richmond Station, an exciting redevelopment of Richmond’s former fire station at 112 Jackson Street.

ReVIVE Development is transforming the historic building into a riverside restaurant and community gathering destination. Pier 36 Seafood & Oyster Bar will relocate to the property, joined by space for additional restaurant concepts, covered outdoor dining, a social lawn, cocktail deck and beautiful views of the Brazos River and historic railroad bridge.

Built in 1964, the former fire station served our community for decades. Now, rather than being forgotten, it will begin a new chapter as a place where residents and visitors can gather, dine and enjoy Historic Downtown Richmond.

Congratulations to Pier 36 owner Jimmy Cantu, ReVIVE Development and everyone who helped bring this vision to life. This project is a wonderful example of preserving Richmond’s history while investing in its future.

We cannot wait to watch Richmond Station take shape!

A strong city begins with a strong foundation.

It was an honor to join members of Richmond Masonic Lodge No. 72 and the Grand Lodge of Texas for the ceremonial cornerstone-laying at our new Richmond City Hall.

This building represents an important investment in Richmond’s future, but more importantly, it belongs to the people of Richmond. It will bring many City services together in one convenient location and provide space to serve our growing community for generations to come.

As I shared during the ceremony, public office is about service. May this cornerstone always remind those who serve here that hard work, integrity and leadership are the foundation of a strong city.

Thank you to the Fort Bend Herald for documenting this special moment in Richmond’s history.

Well…apparently August 21 is National Senior Citizens Day.

Robert and I have reviewed the qualifications, requested a recount, and would like to formally appeal our inclusion in this category.

Unfortunately, our birth certificates have declined to cooperate.

So, from two Richmond seniors who still aren’t entirely convinced we’re senior citizens… Happy National Senior Citizens Day!

We may qualify for the senior discount, but that doesn’t mean we have to act our age. 😉

Here’s to Richmond’s seniors: young at heart, rich in stories, and smart enough to always ask if there’s a discount.
