The purposes of VCLA
* To promote church library ministries in the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond.
* To assist churches in establishing/revitalizing congregational libraries.
* To inform and train church library workers.
* To provide a strong support network for all library workers.
* To provide and teach the correlation of church library ministry with all other ministries of the
church.
* To provide help for making all leaders understand the value to the community of library
materials and resources. Training Opportunites
* Statewide conferences sponsored by VCLA in the Spring (March, April, or May) and Fall
(September, October, or November). Details are published in the VCLA newsletter and
posted on our website and social media.
* Local, regional, and national training events.
* Mentoring services to assist and support churches to establish/revitalize their libraries either
in-person, via telephone, or via Zoom. How to Participate
Contact a VCLA Board member (information is available on the main page of our website vacla.org, a VCLA member, or email [email protected] to connect with other local church library workers.
* Encourage your congregation to establish a library by either electing or choosing a director
and staff and include it in the church budget.
* Encourage your library staff to attend conferences to expand their knowledge and to create
a network of help.
* Join VCLA by paying annual dues to either the director or treasurer.
* Volunteer to bring your talents into VCLA to make libraries grow or to mentor others in
your area.
