Affordable homeownership is a key to opportunity — but access isn’t equal for everyone. Too many families in Madison and Clark counties still face barriers to buying a home due to rising home prices and lack of affordable housing stock.

On the anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, we’re calling for fair access to homeownership for everyone.

At Habitat for Humanity, we are committed to programs advancing innovative solutions to open more doors to affordable homeownership.

Let’s unlock opportunity together! How can you help? Donate, volunteer, or advocate today at hfhmcc.org!

Each December, millions of people gather both in person and on screens, to marvel at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Towering, radiant, and crowned with light, it stands as one of the most recognizable symbols of the American holiday season. But what many people don’t realize is that this iconic tree doesn’t stop giving once the ornaments come down. After the holidays are over, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree begins a second life - one rooted in hope, service, and shelter.

A Tradition of Giving Back:
Since 2007, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree has been donated to Habitat for Humanity. Instead of being discarded, the massive spruce is carefully milled into usable lumber. That wood is then used to help build homes for families in need across the country.

What once stood at the heart of New York City becomes part of the walls, floors, and frames of safe, affordable homes; transforming a symbol of celebration into something deeply practical and profoundly meaningful. The tree is typically milled at a specialized facility, where it’s cut into dimensional lumber and inspected for quality. That lumber is then distributed to Habitat for Humanity affiliates to be used in home construction projects. In this way, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree quite literally becomes part of someone’s future - a child’s bedroom wall, a kitchen doorway, or a front porch where memories will be made for generations. 🎄✨

Would you share your spare change with Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties?

There is an exciting (and simple) new way to support Habitat, and we hope you’ll sign up. The tool is called “RoundUp”, and it was purpose-built to help nonprofits like us!

In a nutshell, RoundUp automatically rounds up each transaction on your Visa or Mastercard to the nearest dollar, then charges your card once per month for the total amount of that ’spare change’, and sends the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.

How it works:
1. Follow this link: https://www.roundup.org/
2. Select the credit card you want to enroll
3. Set a maximum monthly donation (optional)

That’s it! Sign up takes less than 1 minute.

Millions of people are rounding up at the grocery store every day to support charities they don’t even know very well. Now you can direct your roundups to us here at Habitat, knowing with confidence how your spare change is being used! 🏡 🔑

From GoodGiving to GREAT Giving!

The GoodGiving Challenge is now Bluegrass Gives!
Get ready for one BIG day of generosity on Giving Tuesday, TOMORROW, December 2!

Bluegrass Gives is almost here! TOMORROW, join thousands of givers for one day of giving to support 233 local nonprofits across Central and Appalachia Kentucky.

This year, we’ve got a new name and a new format! Formerly the GoodGiving Challenge, Bluegrass Gives is now a one-day giving event—making it easier than ever to rally around local causes and make your donation go further.

Bluegrass Gives is hosted by Blue Grass Community Foundation in partnership with Smiley Pete Publishing to support and spotlight nonprofits doing good in our communities. Since 2011, our annual giving event has raised more than $26 million for hundreds of local nonprofits. Last year alone, donors gave $2.93 million to 202 organizations!

Only 6 days until Bluegrass Gives! 🩵
Your donation of $10 or more can go further with matches, prizes and giving moments all day long — helping unlock extra dollars for the causes you care about.

Bluegrass Gives isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a day that sparks generosity, celebrates community and shines a spotlight on the local nonprofits making Central and Appalachia Kentucky a better place to call home.

In 2024 alone, our community raised $2.93 million for 201 nonprofits, and one in three donors gave to a nonprofit they had never supported before!

🏡 At Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties, community is at the heart of everything we do.

When neighbors come together - volunteers, donors, businesses, churches, and partner families - we’re not just building houses; we’re building stronger, healthier, more connected communities.

Safe, stable, and affordable housing doesn’t only transform the lives of the families who move into a new Habitat home. It strengthens entire neighborhoods. It supports local schools, boosts economic stability, and creates a sense of belonging that ripples far beyond one address or build site.

When families have an affordable place to call home, they can invest more in education, in opportunities, and in their community. And when communities invest in one another, everyone thrives.

💙💚 Thank you to every volunteer, donor, and supporter who helps make this mission possible. Together, we’re not just building homes, we’re building a stronger Madison and Clark County for all.
