Congratulations Lieutenant Steven Rychlik on your twenty years of service to the Richmond Police Department!

We introduced a valuable team member for Years of Service to the City of Richmond at Monday's Commission meeting- Lieutenant Steven Rychlik, who has served in several capacities in the Richmond Police Department in his 20 years, most recently as Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division. Lieutenant Rychlik is prepared to serve where needed with this community-based police department.

Lieutenant Rychlik has also been the point person for the Richmond BUZZ, the Richmond Police Department's storied spelling team who has supported the annual Literacy Council of Fort Bend County's Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee for 16 years! Another testament to Rychlik's commitment to service. We were honored to recognize Lieutenant Rychlik's 20 years of service to the Richmond community.

🚧TRAFFIC ALERT! Beginning Monday, August 17, 2026, TxDOT will have 90A reduced to one lane eastbound as you enter Richmond from Rosenberg to remove a concrete median near Oak Bend Hospital. The lane will be closed from 9 AM to 3 PM and then at night from 9 PM to 5 AM. We will update as we know more about project length. Citizens can visit http://traffic.houstontranstar.org/construction/ for current road construction closures.

Weather Update!

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the next few days. There is a possibility of localized flooding through at least Thursday. Rainfall totals of 4-7 inches are probable. Isolated amounts of 10-15 inches are possible. It appears that the Brazos River in Richmond will remain below flood levels at this time.

Rainfall rates of 2-5 inches per hour are possible. With this amount of rain in a short period, there will be flooding on some of our streets. Please remove all loose debris from your yard which could float away and block drainage.

In addition to the front that is causing rain there is a tropical disturbance that will add moisture to our already wet week outlook. The disturbance may pass along the Texas coast/northwestern Gulf late Tuesday or Wednesday and try to develop into a
brief tropical depression. There is currently a 60% chance of development, but increasing chances are possible over the next 24 hours.

Potential Impacts, regardless of development, to Southeast Texas:
Increased risk of heavy rain.

Weather Update!

Severe rain and thunderstorms are predicted across Texas for the rest of the week. While most of the heavier rain will be north of Richmond, this will still have an impact on the Brazos River. We will be monitoring the river levels throughout the storms. It is never too early to prepare.

As this storm passes through the State of Texas, we ask that you help us prevent flooding by removing all loose debris in and around your yard which could block the storm drains in the city. If you can avoid driving through heavy rain, and possible flooded roads, please do so. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”

Weather Forecast for Richmond!

We are continuing to monitor possible severe weather storms on Friday, extending into Saturday. Friday looks to be the greatest threat for heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Rain amounts are predicted to be 1 to 3 inches per hour which can cause street flooding in the area. Please be sure and clear your yard of any loose debris which could block storm drains and enhance flooding probabilities. Please stay off of the roads if at all possible. Do not try to drive through flooded areas; Turn Around - Don't Drown.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for help in identifying a suspect involved in an Aggravated Assault case which occurred on April 2, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM in the 1200 block of Trenton St.

A picture of the alleged suspect and the vehicle he may drive are attached to this post.

The two K-9 runaways have been returned to their rightful owner.

They are cute but they are not ours.

The Richmond Police Department has two beautiful dogs at the police department waiting to go home. The dogs were found roaming the streets near Lane Dr and Wilson Dr in Rosenberg. If you own these dogs, or if you know who owns these dogs, they can be picked up at the Richmond Police Department.

Flaring of Derailed Train Cars!

The Union Pacific Railroad will be flaring the derailed train cars in Richmond today. This is from the train derailment which occurred in March. This is a controlled burn. You may see flames coming from the area of the derailed cars but it is safe.

Flaring of derailed train cars is a controlled emergency response technique used to burn off hazardous, pressurized liquids or gases—such as propane or ethanol—from damaged tanker cars. This procedure mitigates risks of uncontained explosions by safely releasing and igniting materials in a secured, intentional, and monitored manner.
