A recent article from Virginia Mercury shines a spotlight on a growing need across our state: caregiving support for older adults who want to age at home.

At Family Lifeline, we’re proud to be part of the solution. The article highlights how investments in caregiver wages, training, and support systems have helped us expand our workforce and better serve families in our community.

As demand continues to rise, so does the importance of building a strong, supported caregiving workforce. Aging at home requires more than independence; it requires connection, care, and community.

Celebrating Older Americans Month 💛

This May, we honor the strength, wisdom, and resilience of older adults in our community. At Family Lifeline, we know that aging should come with dignity, connection, and support—not isolation. Through services like care coordination, in-home assistance, and support for caregivers, we help older adults remain safe, independent, and engaged in the places they call home.

Let’s take time this month to:
✨ Check in on an older neighbor or loved one
✨ Listen to their stories and experiences
✨ Advocate for resources that support healthy aging

Together, we can build a community where every generation thrives.

May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation's 2025 Asthma Capitals report, Richmond ranks 16th in the nation—making it one of the most challenging places to live with asthma.

At Family Lifeline, our Breathe Easy Program supports children up to age 18 with in-home asthma case management. Our Home Visitors provide education, connect families to critical resources, and help coordinate asthma action plans with healthcare providers—so families feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

💬 Joanne, one of our Community Health Workers, shares: "When families feel confident managing asthma, children thrive. That’s why the Breathe Easy Program brings education, tools, and hope right to their doorstep."

Together, we can help Richmond families breathe easier. ❤️

You are not alone, and support is available. At Family Lifeline, we believe every parent deserves compassionate care, connection, and resources to thrive. By raising awareness and reducing stigma, we can help ensure moms get the support they need—when they need it.
