On March 17th, Recreation and Public Works collaborated with Groundwork Richmond and YouthBuild for a special Nevin Park Workday, and it was a huge success! 🌿✨

With the help of 28 amazing volunteers, we came together to make a real difference—planting 9 new trees 🌳, giving an entire fence a fresh coat of paint 🎨, and cleaning up the park to make it a more welcoming space for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, worked hard, and helped bring new life to our community park. This is what teamwork looks like! 💚

Announcement: MLK Park has underwent a small but mighty restoration!

On September 8, 2025, fifteen volunteers met up at MLK Park to sweep, dig out weeds, pick up trash, and have a good time.

Volunteers arrived at 5:30 pm with great attitudes and ready to work. In the span of two hours they together managed to:

-fill sixteen bags of trash
-remove 280 pounds of litter
-clean up one lot
-clean up one park
-make a change in their community

A special thanks to the RBPAC (Richmond Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee) who organized this cleanup, and to our volunteers who generously offered their time and labor.

Applications for Love Your Block In-Kind Sponsorships are still open! For more information, check out:

Be the change that you want to see. Maybe we'll catch you at the next one :)
