A message to our patients with UnitedHealthcare insurance plans:

Our current contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) in South Carolina ends Dec. 31, 2026, and our current contract with UHC in Virginia ends Jan. 31, 2027. We are in discussions with UHC, actively working toward a new agreement. However, if an agreement is not reached before Jan. 1, 2027, for South Carolina and before Feb. 1, 2027, for Virginia, Bon Secours physicians, hospitals and care sites in South Carolina and Virginia will be considered out of network for patients covered by UHC.

For now, nothing changes. You should continue to see your Bon Secours physicians and care teams and keep any scheduled appointments.

Emergency care remains available regardless of network status. If Bon Secours becomes out-of-network with UHC, patients receiving ongoing care for certain chronic or complex conditions may qualify for Continuity of Care protections.

What you can do now:
To better understand your options and ensure your access to Bon Secours care, consider taking the following steps:
▪️️Call UnitedHealthcare at the number on the back of your insurance card to ask how your coverage could be affected.
▪️Talk with your employer or benefits representative if you receive UHC coverage through work.
▪️If you have a Medicare Advantage plan with UHC, you will have an opportunity to make a plan change during the Annual Enrollment Period, if necessary.
▪️Visit https://www.bonsecours.com/UHCUpdates to learn more about your coverage options and ways to keep your Bon Secours care team in network.
