Turn Around. Don’t Drown.

Flooded roads can be deeper and more dangerous than they appear. Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock over an adult, and 12 inches can carry away a small car.

If you encounter water over the roadway, do not attempt to drive through it. Turn around and find another route.

Rain is expected to increase across Madison County today, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall possible. Scattered strong storms may develop this afternoon into early evening.

Heavy rain may lead to ponding on roads, reduced visibility, and localized flooding in low-lying or flood-prone areas. Gusty winds up to 50–60 mph are also possible with stronger storms.

Additional heavy rainfall is possible on Wednesday, which could increase the risk for flash flooding.

Please stay weather aware, use caution while driving, and do not drive through flooded roadways.

Make sure you have more than one way to receive weather alerts.
