Feed More

Feed More We collect, prepare and distribute food across 29 counties and 5 cities to neighbors in need.

Feed More has been a part of the Central Virginia community for close to five decades. Meals on Wheels was established in 1967, where it served just eight clients. The Central Virginia Food Bank has been in operation since 1980 and was created by 60 local churches that were concerned about growing hunger and poverty in our region. In 2005, the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels came to

gether to build a joint kitchen to cost effectively create cooked-from-scratch meals for clients. Now known as the Community Kitchen, this led to the formal merger of the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels and on July 1, 2008 Feed More was born.

Some neighbors bring a reusable bag to our pantry distributions. Some bring a shopping cart. Some bring their dog. 🐶

Today, we're celebrating the special bond between pets and the neighbors we serve, like Brandi and her pet dog Petey.

Pets provide companionship, social connection and are a source of joy that brighten our days and help fight feelings of isolation and depression. 💚

More food on the table means families can focus on making memories this holiday season.

We’re overjoyed to once again partner with the Richmond Times-Dispatch and 2026's Richmond Christmas Mother, Cabell West!

Cabell recently toured our building, getting a firsthand look at the work made possible through partnerships like this one. Since 1935, the Richmond Christmas Mother Fund has helped bring holiday cheer to local families in need, and we’re humbled to benefit from this program once again.

Thanks to the continued support of the Richmond Christmas Mother Fund, we can help provide nourishing meals and more for thousands of local families during the holiday season and beyond.

We’re grateful to be part of a partnership that helps make the holidays a little brighter, and helps neighbors thrive all year long. ❤️

Community makes this work possible. 💚

We’re grateful to the Virginia State University Alumni Association of Dinwiddie for showing up for our neighbors and helping make a difference right here in Central Virginia.

For some of our neighbors, making ends meet means making impossible choices about what you can go without.

For Devone, rising costs and a $600 monthly co-pay have made groceries one of those choices.

That’s where The People's Pantry in South Boston comes in. As a Feed More partner agency, it helps connect neighbors like Devone with nutritious food, stretching their budgets and helping make each month a little more manageable.

After bad discs, stents and a massive heart attack forced Devone to slow down after decades working in retail and warehouses, she turned to the pantry for support.

“I grew up on a to***co farm," she tells us. "Started working at 17 and never stopped, until my body gave out.”

And while life looks different now, her spirit remains strong. Devone stays close to her family, her roots and the community that helps her get through difficult times. “I’m a country person, born and raised,” she says.

Talk about a team that knows how to make an impact! ⚽️🙌

Sending a heartfelt thank you to the Richmond Kickers for bringing their team spirit to Feed More, and rolling up their sleeves to help package meals in our Community Kitchen, sort donations, pack produce for our Mobile Pantry distributions and more!

From the pitch to our food bank, they’re helping make a difference for our Central Virginia neighbors in need, one meal at a time! 💚

A summer well spent. 😎💚

We’re taking a moment to celebrate our 2026 summer intern class, and reflect on all the good work they contributed to Feed More!

From accounting and development to programs, marketing, supply chain and volunteer services, our interns had the opportunity to work alongside teams across our organization and gain a behind-the-scenes look at the processes and partnerships that keep our mission moving.

Along the way, they brought fresh perspectives, and plenty of positive energy, to our work of nourishing Central Virginia neighbors in need! We’re incredibly grateful for the time, talent and dedication Victor Mwine, Kevin Reilly, Bayley Melton, Maddie Moore, Grace Belden and Molly Hatfield shared with us this summer.

And wishing you all the best of luck as you head back to University of Richmond, University of Virginia, Appalachian State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech for the next chapter of your college journeys!

There’s something special about knowing the work we do makes a difference to our neighbors. 💚

Every meal, every delivery and every act of generosity helps create a stronger, more connected community. And we’re grateful for the people who take the time to remind us why this work matters.

Hollywood stars, sourdough and a whole lot of heart. ❤️🍞

We had some very special visitors at Feed More today!

Patrick Duffy ("Dallas", "Step by Step", "The Bold and the Beautiful") and Linda Purl ("Happy Days", "Matlock", "The Office") stopped by to get a behind-the-scenes look at our work, and meet some of the incredible people who make it happen!

Patrick and Linda are the founders of Duffy's Dough, a take-and-bake sourdough line dedicated to donating 100% of their profits to support hunger relief. Even better - their visit to Feed More included a generous donation that will help us provide 20,000 meals to the families, seniors and individuals we serve!

We’re grateful to Patrick and Linda for putting their family’s sourdough tradition to work for an important cause, and to Kroger for helping bring Duffy’s Dough to shelves and for being such a committed community partner.

Want to meet Patrick and Linda? They’ll be at the Midlothian Kroger (14101 Midlothian Tpke, Midlothian, VA 23113) tomorrow, 8/13, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.!

Stop by, say hello and learn more about how a delicious loaf of sourdough can help do some good, too!

Gratitude reminds us what really matters.

Neighbors like Antonis inspire us every day with their resilience, hope and appreciation, even during life's toughest moments. It's a powerful reminder that a little kindness and a nutritious meal can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we're helping ensure more neighbors across Central Virginia have access to the food and support they need. 💚
