A variety of instructional methods are used to accelerate reading instruction at all grade levels, including Balanced Literacy, the Accelerated Reader Computer Program, whole language, phonics and novel sets. A strong commitment to a manipulative base underlies Austin's developmental mathematics program and is continued at the upper elementary grades with the use of cooperative learning while plac

ing an emphasis on problem-solving strategies. Thematic units are used to establish relevance among the various disciplines of the curriculum.

Open House Schedule for this evening:

5:00–5:30 PM | Session 1
Teachers will host the first grade-level/classroom session for families.

5:35–5:55 PM | Schoolwide Presentation – Cafeteria/Gym
Mr. Dixon and Mr. Temporal will present our campus focus areas and accountability results to parents.

6:00–6:30 PM | Session 2
Teachers will repeat the same presentation from Session 1 for families who were unable to attend the first session.

6:30–7:00 PM | Final Open House Window

Concessions will be open and available throughout the entire Open House from 5:00–7:00 PM:
