Sometimes, even with the loudest voices and the clearest warnings, change doesn’t happen as quickly or as completely as we’d hope. You’ve shown up and spoken out, which is a testament to your commitment to what you believe in, and that’s far from being a defeatist. The reality is, being on the right side of history doesn’t always mean getting immediate results, but it does mean laying the groundwork for something better over time.
People who shared your concerns have made an impact, even if it doesn’t feel like enough right now. Public outcry and sustained advocacy have blocked or delayed problematic policies in the past and have held leaders accountable when few others did. But if it seems like it’s falling on deaf ears, it’s likely not because people don’t care; it could be a mix of feeling powerless or overwhelmed, or seeing the issues so differently that it’s hard to find common ground.
Maybe this moment can be a reminder that advocacy isn’t just about the “wins”—it’s also about resilience and consistency. History is full of people who struggled against seemingly insurmountable odds, and while their successes took time, their persistence is what made change possible. It’s incredibly hard to stay hopeful when the stakes feel so high, but every time someone like you speaks up, it chips away at the apathy and reinforces the call for something better.

Does anyone else feel queasy from election stress? 😅 Have you taken so many ‘deep breaths’ that you’re hyperventilating? And if you step outside, it's probably just to yell at the grass?.
What are you all doing to stay calm today? I could really use some new ideas (or maybe just some reassurance that I’m not the only one feeling this way!). Let’s get through this together!"

Honoring Juneteenth
Dear students and tutors,
In observance of Juneteenth, our office will be closed on June 19th. We join in celebrating this important day, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and reflecting on the journey toward freedom and equality for all.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you again when we reopen on June 20th. Let’s take this day to honor the past, educate ourselves, and continue striving for a more just and inclusive future.
Happy Juneteenth!

I was thinking about all the little moments that have shaped who I am today. And you know what kept popping up? The ones where someone took the time to teach me something new. Whether it was mastering that tricky algebra problem or understanding the difference between "there," "their," and "they're," those moments of learning have stuck with me.
And that got me thinking... There are adults out there who didn't have those opportunities growing up, who might be struggling with reading, writing, language, or math skills. That's why I'm reaching out to all of you.
The Literacy for Every Adult Program is on the lookout for volunteer tutors to help with our GED, ESL, and ABE tutoring services. If you've got a knack for numbers, a passion for language, or just a love of learning, we could really use your skills!
It's not just about teaching ABCs or crunching numbers. It's about giving someone the tools they need to unlock a world of opportunities. Plus, you'll get to be a part of some truly heartwarming moments – there's nothing like seeing someone's face light up when they finally grasp a concept they've been struggling with.
So, if you've got some time to spare and a desire to make a real difference in someone's life, consider becoming a volunteer tutor with us. Together, we can help more adults write their own success stories, one lesson at a time.
Call if you're interested or know someone who might be.

Hey everyone, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Teacher Appreciation Week. I know I'm a bit tardy with this post, and for that, I apologize. Sometimes life gets in the way, but it's important to still show gratitude, even if it's a little late.
To all the teachers out there, thank you for your dedication, patience, and passion for education. You truly make a difference in the lives of your students, and your hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
As for my assignment for this week, I have to admit, I didn't give it the attention it deserved. But I promise I will write, ”Thank you teachers for inspiring us all to do better” 100 times on the board.
Once again, thank you to all the amazing teachers who shape the minds of tomorrow. You are appreciated more than words can express.

What a great Saturday it was at the Annual Literary Festival at the Richmond Auditorium! From the captivating spinning wheel to the heartwarming raffle, there were moments of pure joy and excitement. While the adults cheered on, it was the children who stole the show, winning plush animals, slimy skeletons, books, and toy trucks!
And let's not forget about the dancing! We stomped our feet and clapped our hands to the trio of musicians there to celebrate the love for literacy and learning, creating memories that will last a lifetime. And all of this while enjoying a delightful free lunch.
A huge shoutout to everyone who helped make this event a success and to all who joined in the festivities. Here's to the power of community and the magic of literacy!
