This evening Fairchild Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire caused by contractor work being performed. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire involvement extending through the attic space and roof, creating difficult access conditions for suppression efforts.
Thanks to the quick actions and coordinated efforts of responding agencies, firefighters were able to gain access to the concealed spaces, stop the fire’s progression, and keep damage contained primarily to the area of origin. Despite the challenges, this incident was considered a good stop with the remainder of the structure sustaining minimal damage.
During operations, crews were also able to safely rescue a cat from the residence. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported to occupants or firefighters.
Fairchild Fire Department would like to thank all assisting agencies for their teamwork and professionalism:
Needville Fire Department
Damon Fire Department
Richmond Fire Department
Rosenberg Fire Department
Additional thanks to Fort Bend County EMS for staging on scene and standing by for firefighter and civilian safety, as well as the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office for traffic control and shutting down roadways during operations.
Strong teamwork and coordinated mutual aid response made a difference tonight.
