Fort Bend County has issued an outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county, effective today, August 27, at 5 p.m.

Extreme heat, worsening drought conditions, and limited rainfall have significantly increased the risk of wildfires. As of today, Fort Bend County’s Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is 634 on a scale of 0–800, indicating significantly dry conditions and an increased potential for fire activity.

🚫 While the burn ban is in effect, outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Fort Bend County. This includes:
• Burning trash or debris
• Campfires
• Burn barrels
• Other open-flame burning that is not fully contained as required by the County’s order

🔥 Please do your part to prevent wildfires. Even a small spark can quickly become dangerous under these dry conditions. Use extra caution with anything that could ignite dry grass or vegetation, including discarded ci******es, hot equipment, welding, and vehicles parked over dry grass.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office will continue monitoring drought and weather conditions. The burn ban may be rescinded when conditions improve.

This evening, nearly every fire department in Fort Bend County came together to battle a large residential structure fire in the Thompson Fire Department district.

The fire involved a 6,200-sq ft home and presented numerous operational challenges. Limited access to the property, saturated ground conditions from recent rainfall, and rural water shuttle operations required an extensive, coordinated response from multiple agencies.

This is where training, teamwork, bravery, and sound tactical decision making come together.

Firefighters worked side by side, adapting to changing conditions while conducting aggressive fire attack, protecting exposures, and bringing the fire under control.

Incidents like this are a reminder that no single department handles these types of emergencies alone. The strength of the fire service is found in the partnerships we build and the multiple agency trainings.

There was no reported injuries, and the residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Thank you to every firefighter, EMS provider, dispatcher, police and support personnel who responded and worked tirelessly throughout the incident. Together, we make our communities safer.

🚒 Busy Weekend for Fairchild Fire Department 🚒

Fairchild Fire Department wrapped up a busy weekend by responding to an RV fire late this evening.

Upon arrival, crews quickly deployed an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously protecting a nearby exposure due to the close proximity of surrounding structures. Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of our firefighters, the fire was quickly brought under control, preventing the fire from extending beyond the RV.

Once the fire was extinguished, crews were able to safely complete salvage operations inside the camper, allowing several personal belongings to be recovered and returned to the property owner.

We would like to extend our appreciation to Needville Fire Department, Damon Fire Department, and Rosenberg Fire Department for providing additional manpower and water supply during the incident.

Strong mutual aid partnerships continue to make a difference when our communities need us most.

A special thank you to Fort Bend County EMS for staging on scene to ensure the safety and well-being of all emergency personnel throughout the operation.

13 years ago today, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community of Yarnell during the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire firefighters across Arizona and beyond. While the years pass, their legacy never fades.

Today, we pause to remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts.

Gone, but never forgotten.

🚨 Structure Fire Response – Automatic Aid During Severe Weather 🚨

At approximately 12:35 this evening, Fairchild Fire Department was automatically dispatched to assist Thompson Fire Department with a residential structure fire during the passing storm.

Engine 270 and Tanker 280 responded from Fairchild. Shortly after, Richmond Fire Department responded with Engine 42 and Chief 2. Due to the rural location and lack of hydrants, additional water supply resources were requested, bringing Needville Fire Department and Beasley Fire Department to the alarm with tanker support.

As operations continued, additional assistance was requested from Sugar Land Fire Department and Stafford Fire Department, who responded with tanker and engine companies to support the incident.

Fort Bend County EMS staged on scene with a Battalion Chief and ambulance to provide medical support for firefighters and residents if needed.

Despite challenging weather conditions and rural water operations, crews worked together seamlessly to bring the fire under control. All residents safely escaped the home, and no injuries were reported.

This incident once again highlights the importance of regional cooperation and the strength of the mutual aid system. Great work by all agencies involved.

A special thank you goes out to Scrub Bros Window Washing for stepping up after the incident to assist with gross decontamination of equipment and washing apparatus, helping crews quickly return units to service.

Excellent teamwork by everyone involved and prayers for the family affected by this fire. 🚒🇺🇸

This evening Fairchild Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire caused by contractor work being performed. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire involvement extending through the attic space and roof, creating difficult access conditions for suppression efforts.
Thanks to the quick actions and coordinated efforts of responding agencies, firefighters were able to gain access to the concealed spaces, stop the fire’s progression, and keep damage contained primarily to the area of origin. Despite the challenges, this incident was considered a good stop with the remainder of the structure sustaining minimal damage.

During operations, crews were also able to safely rescue a cat from the residence. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported to occupants or firefighters.

Great turn out in ticket sales! We have ordered 1,200 pounds of crawfish. Hopefully from the sounds of it we won't have much left over. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow, but a few things to answer your questions to help the processes.

First, if you ordered online, we have your name written down and the number of tickets purchased. We will set up a table and have you check in and pick up your arm band.

If you have a hard copy ticket you will check in at the same spot, in exchange for your ticket we will give you an armband.

As far as buying by the pound quantities tomorrow it will depend on how much we have available to spare.

When you arrive at the Columbus Hall you will find us in the pavilion behind the hall. Park your vehicle and walk up. We expect to have the area under the trees roped off and tables outside. Depending on weather. The rain is supposed to hold off but its Needville so we will see.

We suggest wearing your stretchy pants, dancing shoes and bring a chair if you like.
