We are grateful for every member of the Richmond Fire Department for always being willing to go above and beyond to put the safety of our community first! 👏

A directive sent to the Flying Squirrels last Monday from an assistant fire marshal may have prevented serious injuries Thursday.

Last Friday, RFD helped Richmond teachers strengthen their emergency preparedness skills by completing CPR training, EpiPen training, and other emergency response skills through the RFD C.A.R.E.S partnership.

RFD C.A.R.E.S helps RPS teachers maintain critical certifications while also supporting the Richmond Fire Department’s goal of ensuring a more safe and prepared community. We’re grateful to all of our RPS partners and RFD members who came together to bring this valuable resource to the community.🤝🏫

Yesterday, Richmond Fire Department crews responded to a second-alarm fire at a vacant church on 28th Street. Working shoulder to shoulder with our mutual aid partners from Chesterfield County Fire and EMS and Henrico County Division of Fire, the fire was quickly contained and neighboring homes were protected.

Most importantly, there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Everyone went home safely, and for that we are grateful.

Great teamwork, great partners, great outcome. 🔥💪🚒

POV: You thought lighting “just one” firework would be fine… 💥🚒

Spoiler alert: It’s not.

Fireworks are illegal in the City of Richmond, and every year they lead to preventable fires and injuries.

This Fourth of July, let’s leave the fireworks to the pros and attend a professional fireworks show.

Check out this P.O.V 👀

RFD’s Technical Rescue Team recently completed a high-angle rescue drill on a tower crane in Scott’s Addition.

Crews practiced removing and lowering an unconscious crane operator from the top of the crane to the ground.

This type of training prepares our teams for real-world emergencies on construction sites and other elevated structures across the city where quick, coordinated action saves lives.

We’ve had close calls and we’ve had moments that have turned into something much worse.

A distracted driver drifting over the line. A vehicle that didn’t slow down in time. A scene that turned unsafe in seconds.

When you see flashing lights, slow down, move over, and give space to first responders working on our busy roadways.

It’s not just the law, it’s what keeps us going home safely.🚒🚨
