Today, we are recognizing Bill Harris for his 24 years of service on the Virginia Gas and Oil Board (VGOB), which regulates natural gas, oil, and coalbed methane development in Virginia.

As the longest serving member of the VGOB, Mr. Harris brought a thoughtful and steady perspective to the Board, helping balance industry development with the interests of land and royalty owners. His work included protecting property and mineral rights, upholding the principle of correlative rights—the idea that owners with interests in a shared underground resource deserve a fair opportunity to benefit from it—and helping guide the Board's stewardship of the Board's Escrow Account.

Thank you, Bill, for 24 years of dedicated service to Virginia's communities. We wish you all the best in retirement!
