Crews began Phase 1 of the City’s 2025 Paving Project – Rubberized Cape Seal this week. This first phase includes road base repairs to get streets ready for a new surface treatment next spring. Work will move quickly from block to block, with lane closures, traffic controls and minimal access impacts expected.

Phase 2, scheduled for early spring 2026, will apply a rubberized cape seal to selected streets—improving pavement condition, extending roadway life, and reusing recycled tire rubber in the process.

Residents began receiving public notification over the past several weeks and there will be additional public notification 72-hours prior to work starting. “No Parking” signs will be posted in active work areas, and access for emergency vehicles and people with disabilities will always be maintained.

City Showcases Progress on Measure X Fuel Reduction Efforts
The City of Richmond is excited to share a new interactive map highlighting our ongoing efforts to reduce fire hazards on City-owned parcels through the Measure X Fuel Reduction Program. This initiative, supported by funding from Measure X, aims to enhance community safety by managing vegetation and mitigating fire risks across high-priority areas. The map provides a clear visual of parcels that have been completed, approved for treatment, or are currently under review, offering residents a transparent view of the program’s progress.
Residents are encouraged to explore the map and learn more about the City’s commitment to fire safety. By clicking on individual parcels, viewers can access detailed information about each site’s status and planned actions. Visit the map at https://arcg.is/1mLOfu1 and see how Measure X funding is making a difference in Richmond’s neighborhoods. Together, we can continue to build a safer and more resilient community.
