Yesterday, our Executive Director had the opportunity to accept three Virginia Main Street Awards on behalf of Old Town Wi******er:

🏆 Milestone Award for more than 1,000 building improvement projects
🏆 Milestone Award for more than 40,000 volunteer hours invested in downtown revitalization
🏆 Merit Award for the Power of Preservation recognizing our History of Us program

These awards represent more than four decades of investment in downtown Wi******er by volunteers, city staff, local EDA efforts, business owners, property owners, community partners, and residents who have dedicated their time, talent, and resources to this place.

While we're honored to receive these recognitions, they belong to an entire community that continues to show up, pitch in, preserve our history, and invest in our future.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make Wi******er's Main Street program what it is today.

Broadband County Spotlight | County of Albemarle

Since 2022, Albemarle County has connected 5,275 previously unserved locations to high-speed internet as a result of five consecutive broadband expansion grants through DHCD’s Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI). Albemarle County expects to connect nearly 11,000 households by the end of the year, bringing broadband coverage to 99.9% of the county.

This progress reflects strong partnerships with Firefly Fiber Broadband and Brightspeed (formerly CenturyLink), along with state funding support through VATI.

Each year, the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference recognizes the best of housing in the Commonwealth and celebrates innovative work making an impact.
