This picture takes me back almost 10 years ago, when we broke ground on the new EMS station just outside of town.

Since then, our local EMS heroes have continued to show up every single day for our communities. They are our neighbors, our friends, and often the first faces people see in their scariest moments.

They save lives. They comfort families. They walk into situations most of us could never imagine, and they carry things with them that cannot be unseen.

During EMS Week, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to the men and women across my district who serve with courage, compassion, and dedication. We are safer because of you, and I am so deeply grateful.

During EMS Week 2026, observed May 17–23, we proudly recognize the extraordinary dedication, professionalism, and compassion of our local Emergency Medical Services personnel. Every day, Medics, EMTs, dispatchers, and first responders stand ready to answer the call—providing lifesaving care, comfort, and reassurance during some of the most difficult moments in people’s lives. Their commitment extends far beyond emergency response; they are trusted members of our community who work tirelessly to protect the health and safety of our families, neighbors, and visitors. EMS professionals embody courage, skill, and selfless service, placing the safety of others above their own and answering the call in dangerous and uncertain situations without hesitation. This week serves as an important reminder of the invaluable role EMS plays in strengthening our community and the deep gratitude we owe to those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
