NEW EQUIPMENT ADDITION
Yesterday, two of our volunteers traveled to Columbia City, Indiana, to bring home a new-to-us cascade system!
This system allows us to refill our SCBA air cylinders, which provide firefighters with breathable air while operating in hazardous environments. This is a major asset to our department, especially when paired with our new training facility. Having this capability in-house will allow us to conduct more consistent training while ensuring our firefighters can train using the same breathing equipment and air supply they rely on during emergency operations.
Previously, we had to transport empty cylinders to another department for refilling. This addition gives us greater independence, improves training efficiency, and allows us to return our SCBA cylinders and apparatus to operational readiness faster following a fire, ensuring we are better prepared for the next emergency.
With limited financial support from local government, this purchase was made entirely through funds raised at our weekly bingo fundraiser, costing taxpayers absolutely nothing!
