Founded in 1860, the public transit system known today as GRTC is jointly owned by the City of Richmond and Chesterfield County. The transit agency was purchased from private owners and incorporated as GRTC on April 12, 1973, for the purpose of providing public transportation service in the Greater Richmond area. On Tuesday morning, a GRTC bus was involved in an incident that resulted in 10 non-life-threatening injuries and damage to two passenger shelters. We are grateful that all reported injuries were non-life-threatening and that the GRTC operator who was injured has been released from the hospital. 🎨 The Auction of the Arts features one-of-a-kind pieces created by artists from All City & Friends on authentic GRTC system maps that once hung at bus stop shelters across our network. Through painting, drawing, and mixed-media techniques, these retired maps have been transformed into unique works of art that celebrate transit and community connection.

📍 Attention 95X riders: Beginning July 13, the Petersburg Express stop will move near the corner of West Washington Street and South Union Street.

This is one of several service updates taking effect July 12, including added evening trips on Routes 5, 7A and 7B and a new 95X stop at Brightpoint Community College.
