Since the organization’s beginning in 1928, Ruritan Clubs have served America with Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in small towns and rural communities. Ruritan’s purpose is to create a better understanding among people and through volunteer community service, make America’s communities better places in which to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.” Club membership is not restrictive with regard to occupation, social position, or any other specific criteria. The Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club purchased school supplies to be donated to A.M.Davis Elementary School in Chesterfield County. The supplies were deliver today just in time for school starting next week. The school staff were very appreciative of our donation and assured us that they would be very helpful in the new school year. God Bless all our teachers, students, and school staffs as they begin their new school year.

On June 14 - FLAG DAY - the Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club hosted a Flag Retirement Ceremony. A local Boy Scout Troop presented the program. They began by presenting the Flag and the pledge to the Flag. Then that Flag was cut into four pieces - three red and while striped pieces and the uncut blue star field. Those four pieces were then placed on the fire. The Scouts then came with other precut Flags and placed them on the fire. As the fire began to die down, the Scouts stood nearby until the fire was gone. They then gather the ashes and those ashes are buried in an appropriate place. This is a solemn ceremony and a reverent tribute to our well-used American Flags. 🇺🇸

The Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club was chartered on March 21, 1940. The March Club meeting this year fell on March 21 marking exactly 82 years of service to the Chesterfield County Community. Cutting the cakes are Bill Estes and John Hancock - both joined the club in 1989. The Chesterfield Club has 23 members (includes 9 Associate Members). Three members (including one Associate Member) have been welcomed to the club in 2022.

The Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club held a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Monday night. Scout Troop 2862 in Chesterfield County held a very reverent and meaningful program. We "retired" approximately 25 American Flags.

The Chesterfield(VA) Ruritan Club will be holding a Flag Retirement ceremony on Monday, June 21, at 7:30 pm at the Providence UMC Picnic Shelter. This "retirement" ceremony will be carried out by Providence's Boy Scout Troup #832. Everyone is invited to attend this ceremony so please join the Ruritan Club at this very special service to our community. If you have flags that are worn, please bring them so that they can be properly and respectfully "retired". If you would like to donate a worn flag but cannot attend the ceremony, please contact Bobby Burton at 804-432-5096 or 804-432-5178 and he will make arrangements to pick up the flag. Please show your patriotic support for our community and the Boy Scouts and the Ruritan CLub as this special event.

During April 2020, the Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club donated about 16 quarts of Brunswick Stew to three local Fire Stations. Their donations were greatly appreciated.

The Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club is making history tonight - they are having their club meeting via ZOOM. It is their first meeting since February and they have missed each other! This is quite a different way to meet but this has given them a chance to catch up with each other and to make some decisions for the club. Thanks to Zone Governor Julie Marshall for organizing this way of meeting!
Thanks to technology for keeping us all somewhat connected during these crazy times!

Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club President, Bobby Burton, delivered Brunswick Stew to Fire Station 20 on Courthouse Road in Chesterfield County on Friday. The Firefighters were very appreciative!

Today, March 21, in 1940, the Chesterfield (VA) Ruritan Club was CHARTERED (Charter #108) with 28 Charter Members. The first Club President was W.A.Horner. In 2020, there are 14 Club Members, 9 Associate Members. We have one 61-year-member and Ruritan Forever, Jim Yeatts. The Club has three Ruritan Forever Members, several Tom Downing Fellows, and two Past National Presidents are members. Our members are serving Ruritan in other areas beyond the Club - in the Zone and Appomattox District offices. Our 14 active members work hard together with community projects to promote the Ruritan Goals of Fellowship, Good Will, and Community Service.

The Club with celebrate this great 80-year milestone later this year!
