I started cutting the jade chrysalis years ago for forest ranger as a gift for his wife as earrings. Then his two daughters inherited their Mother’s as pendants. Usually turn down Eclectic Taste Victorian Silver plate. This restoration was for a friend and turned out to be fun. Years ago l made a tool for soft soldering. It turned out to be perfect for putting this back together. style

Mystery of the mystery jade chrysalis.Two months ago l finished cutting the shape, polished it and then set it in 18k gold. Over night l let the parts setttle into place in a very small vise. In the morning l opened the vise and the jade flew up into the air so fast l could not see where it landed. A friend came over and she and l looked through all my things in the part of studio. We did not find it. Today l decided to look again, l moved things went through boxes. I still have more to do. In the mean time, l am using the time to sort juke and clean.
I have many rough pieces of stones. I will never cut all of these stones in a lifetime. I enjoy looking at them. Many are fossils which mesmerize me. I have to remind myself about the missing jade, before l become lost in the mystery of fossils.

Pin made in 1980. I cannot remember how l made silver so blue to match blue pearls. Sure l used liver of sulfur but how. Does anyone have idea? In those days we heated water and liver of sulfur in a heated pot.
I cannot believe the oxides lasted all these years. silver
