Exciting news! California Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB818 late yesterday, a bill requiring all packaging for diaper wipes, cleaning wipes and cosmetic wipes to clearly display “DO NOT FLUSH” warnings. 🚽🚫

Also known as the WIPPES Act, West County Wastewater was one of many supporters of the bill. Wipes – even those labeled as flushable – clog pipes and cause backups and overflows, resulting in damage to homes, businesses, neighborhoods, sewer systems, wastewater treatment equipment, and the environment. Read the full story here: bwnews.pr/3DjOd6H and learn more about how to prevent overflows at www.wcwd.org/customers/sewer/#overflow-prevention.
