For Crystal Hypes, Acting Director of DMV Procurement, passion is a big part of Always Driving Forward. “It means looking for the best way to get something done and supporting the people doing it,” she says, “It's not only getting the work done, but ensuring that the people doing it are happy.”

Her team has been crucial in helping DMV stretch every dollar without reducing our ability to service customers, and much of this comes from Crystal providing the support that her team members need as they deal with vendors and complex regulations on tight deadlines.

When her team has what they need, they are able to give the agency - and the citizens of Virginia - exactly what they need.

Our 🚔 Law Enforcement division targeted dangerous trucks and operators in the coalfields of western Virginia.

👮🏼 They were thrilled to find that everyone has been paying attention to Click It or Ticket, with no seat belt violations found!

Unfortunately, they also found numerous commercial vehicles and drivers that were out of compliance, including:

🚛 Drivers operating on a suspended license
🚚 Drivers operating without any license
🔎 Expired or no state inspection
⛽ Drivers who were evading fuel taxes by using dyed fuel for highway use
👷🏼 Safety violations, including 17 severe enough to put the trucks out of service

The team also got to interact with community members young and old, many of whom showed appreciation for their efforts.

We’d love for them to find no issues in these operations! Commercial vehicles are important to making the coalfields run, but it’s crucial that they operate within the laws to keep the citizens of Virginia safe.
